In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet I interpreted a gloomy and tense tone throughout the duration of the iconic fight scene between the Capulets and Montagues. In my interpretation, I thought that the fight would be provoked by the impulsiveness of both Tybalt and Mercutio, and progress to a heart wrenching fight between Romeo and Tybalt to show the strain that it causes on the newly intertwined houses. Baz Luhrmann’s film version slightly differentiated from mine in the stance that they didn’t use swords or guns for the dramatic effect. In fact, he portrayed it as a fist fight between Mercutio and Tybalt, followed by a car chase led by Romeo for its effect. His interpretation of the gloomy and tense tone led the audience to
