Visual Art Poster: The purpose of this poster is to advertise against GMOs. This poster was created by a guy with a website called Deesillustration, he creates art work/posters to put a point across against certain topics, in this case GMOs. The target audience for this particular poster would be for those who buy or consume GMOs. It has been made with images and phrases that are on a whole biased and inaccurate. This is used to scare the readers and therefore make them against GMOs when a lot of the images and phrase portrayed are not true or exaggerated. A biological idea seen in the poster is the food; the poster shows images of potato with eyes and fingers, Snail broccoli and Tomato and trout genes. The video claims the tests were done on rats and problems such as growing slower and having fertility problems occurred. Although this may be true with some extreme example of GMOs, the video implies that all GMOs do this. Even when people have been eating GMOs for years and haven’t been affected. One test that was found to be flawed is used to say that GMOs are bad and we should stay away from them. This has great consequence on the public as people will watch this and without research will believe it. GMOs have the potential to help a lot of things such as world hunger. New GM rice has the potential to be made which has genes that help Vitamin A deficiencies. This new rice could save a lot of people who suffer from vitamin A deficiencies, but videos like this one who are providing false or bias information are steering people against GMOs the very thing that could help us in many ways. There doesn’t appear to be any vested interests as there is nothing to say who the creator works for or what could be the reason for making the video, most likely a guy who has a strong view on GMOs and wants to put it out there. The overall impact on the public is against GMOs. Right through the video the creator use a sarcastic voice to his advantage to promote against the GMOs. Also little hinds like the picture and subtle words give an overall negative affect. This means that the public who don’t have much logic around the topic will side with the opinion of the video and therefore not see the positive impacts GMOs can
