One research study of banking systems conducted by Cosmin Matis of Babes-Bolyai University, contends that organizational cultures influence organizational structures, and not the other way around (Matis, 2013). The study lists the factors of organizational cultures influence in organizational structures to be age, dimension, environment, decisions, coordination, standardized procedures, duties of the organization, cluture and management. The study also maintains that per Hofstede, national perception of the organization's objectives influence the design of corporate structures (Matis, 2013, Hofstede, 20012).

Aquinas further states that both organizational structure and organizational culture controls the coordianation and motivation of an organization, shapes the behavior of the people within the organization, and evolve as the organization grows.
