Firstly, the Golden Ages contributed many aspects that greatly influenced future times. According to an excerpt from Gray C. Boyce [Document 6], even through the darkest of times Europe seemed to be always advancing and contributing innovative ideas. As trade increased, so did the ideas that generated stronger civilizations throughout Europe. Therefore, this document supports the Golden Age because it states that this period of time “later transmitted to later ages great riches”, this means that the achievements made later influenced future societies in a successful way. Due to these advancements, Europe had developed an edge upon other civilizations.
The Development of America from 1877 to Present Day In 1877, after the Civil War, everyday life consisted of the standard of living going up, people’s income going up, and the cost of living going up at a faster rate than the rest. During this time, many cultural developments took place such as mass transportation. The South had to almost completely reconstruct itself while over 21.5 million immigrants migrated to America. From 1877 to present day, the development of industrialization, expansionism, progressivism, isolationism, and globalization all took place in America, however, each of them took place under different circumstances and different time periods.
After the Reconstruction of America, we entered into a time referred to as “The Gilded Age”. In this time period, there were a few monumental companies that tried to be the one and only of their type, a few examples would be the US Steel Co., and the Standard Oil Co. These companies were rising up and trying to completely eliminate all other companies that would compete against them, and ultimately, have a monopoly on the product or service. At the time, this wasn’t illegal, but people who were trying to rival these grandiose companies were enraged. Therefore, they started calling them “Robber Barons” referring to the old ranks of nobility, where a baron was an owner of a large segment of land.
The Gilded Age was a time of significant civil change and business growth in the United States. This Age marked rapid industrialization, urbanization, the development of great rise of big business, innovations in science and technology, and transcontinental railroads. Afterward, there began looking for political movement that attempted to correct some of the wrongs that had occurred during the Gilded Age. Progressives established legislation to rein in the large business, combat crime, free the government from special cases, and protect the rights of consumers, workers, immigrants, and the poor. This quote proves that times were Golden in Europe. If they had more farmland than they would have more food. If they had more food than they would have a bigger population. Another reason it could be considered a the Golden Era is because Ghana had an army that could protect traders, they worked hard, but they were safe and protected, and they had plenty to eat. “Ghana was a great military power in ancient times...
Athens organized a group of Greek city states into the Delian League and eventually lead and dominated all of the city states in the League. Athens’s military prowess allowed them to look down on the other members of the League and treat them as members of an empire instead of equals. This caused some to view them with hostility which sparked the conflicts between Athens and Sparta that lead to the Peloponnesian War. The direct democracy of Athens wasn’t actually as inclusive and steady as the statement at Pericles 's funeral state, “Our Constitution is called a democracy because power is in the hands not of a minority but of the whole people (Doc C).” In fact, of the 450,000 citizens of Athens in 430 BC, only about 40,000 people had the power to vote.
The period after Reconstruction, the last few years of the nineteenth century, was known as the “Gilded Age”. The “Gilded Age” was named by Mark Twain in 1873 and was a period of transformation in the economy, government, technology, and social customs of the U.S. The transformation lead to a more modern society which was once small regional communities. Congress continued to reform the west which meant redistributing land that was owned by Indians. This caused great conflict that involved many wars.

Athens and Sparta, located between the Aegean and the Ionian Sea, allied with each other in the Greco-Persian war. Due to the advanced and powerful navy of Athens incorporation with the well-built army of Sparta, they gained victory over the Persian Empire. After the victory, Athens gained wealth and dominance over the other Greek societies causing tensions between Sparta. They both share similarities towards their cultural background but had different views in creating an ideal society in addition to their state’s place in the world. Moreover, they differ from the concepts of a well trained or educated society and a well built military, but share similarities in their government format.
Golden Ages are periods in a civilization where culture, art, literature, economic stability, and often scientific discovery and advancement thrive. The Golden Ages of Athens, Han China, and India were marked by cultural and economic dominance of those respective cultures. All three Civilizations were able to influence regions far away from their borders through trade, and aspects of their cultures inspired the culture of neighboring peoples. The standard of living amongst all three civilizations was also notably high. However, the development of technology played a more crucial role for the Golden Ages of Han China and India, while in Athens dominance was mostly achieved through political control and Athens becoming the most important voice
