There is controversy amongst historians and educators as to whether Caligula (born Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus) was ruthless, crazy, or misunderstood. In his position as Emperor of the Roman Empire he was considered and depicted as being unpredictable and cruel. He would seemingly order anyone who crossed him to be murdered; he seemingly enjoyed torturing people; acknowledged himself as a God; restored treason trials; and caused many problems for Rome as a result of his excessive spending on public shows, entertainment, games, and Roman treasures which it is said almost sent the Empire into bankruptcy. There are numerous hypotheses from numerous historians as to whether he was just rebellious or ruthless, driven to madness due to past tragedies in his life, or suffered a mental illness that led him to being an unreliable, extravagant and sadistic ruler.
Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus was once a strong and powerful Roman Emperor. He was also known as Caligula which was his nickname given to him by his father's soldiers. The word Caligula was a meaning for “little soldier's boot”. He was given this nickname because he would keep his father's soldiers Company during their campaigns in Germania. Caligula had six siblings.
He was also was a very bad man. He would kill all people that would disagree with him, was a terrible leader, and weak. He was a terrible leader because he was not going to go to the traditional race at the festival of Lupercal. The only reason he was not going to go is because a soothsayer told him to beware the ides of March, March fifteenth to be specific. Julius Caesar is a man that the conspirators would consider a bad man.
Caligula was born as Gaius Julius Caesar, named in honor of his famous and much-beloved relative, in Anzio, Italy, a city just 40 miles south of Rome, on August 31, 12 CE to Germanicus and Agrippina the Elder. He was the third child of the six total, with two older brothers (Nero and Drusus) and three younger sisters (Agrippina the Younger, Julia Drusilla, and Julia Livilla). Through Agrippina the Elder, Gaius’ maternal great-grandfather was Augustus. Germanicus was an extremely successful military general who received his name after conquering Germania for the Roman Empire. During his military campaigns in the north, Germanicus was accompanied by Gaius, who was dressed in a miniature soldier’s outfit, with boots (called caligas) and armour.

Caligula also has another nickname, “little boot”, because he used to go with his father to military campaigns in a uniform and a small pair of boots. Caligula was summoned by Tiberius, Rome’s current ruler at that time, in the year 31. He was adopted by Tiberius, even though he speculated the emperor murdered his father, Germanicus.
Was Julius Caesar a villain or a hero? Some people believe he was a villain and some people believe he was a hero. I believe he was a hero because he brought peace and order into Rome, strengthened and expanded Rome, and set up job programs for people and helped the farmers that were migrating. Overall he helped Rome a lot.

Throughout the poem, we see the transformation of the road throughout the years. After many years of purges and trials of treason, Rome welcomed its new emperor. The youngest son of the war hero, Germanicus, Gaius Caesar (not to be confused with Gaius Julius Caesar) had been raised around soldiers and his nickname, Caligula, meaning "little boots", stuck. As a child, Caligula had suffered greatly. His mother had been exiled and his two elder brothers executed on false treason charges.
There are many behaviors that deserve punishment. Harassing people, being physically or mentally abusive toward people, killing people, stealing from people, and many more are great examples. When someone has bad intentions, it’s going to be obvious, and they cannot and will not appear friendly or nice because people will be able to see right through them and their bad intentions. If someone lived in a bad government, I do not think they are to be blamed for serving that government, because they may have to choose between that, or death. In that case, they may have good intentions, because they were forced to do something, more than wanting to do that thing.
Since Caesar had defeated Pompey, a military and political leader during the Roman Republic, in battle and was a roman general at the time, Caesar went on to conquer and take control of Gaul ( modern day France) and allied himself with Cleopatra in Egypt by marrying her. Caesar was expecting to become dictator for life because of his accomplishments without the Senate voting on him. This shows that Caesar wanted anything that would better him in life and brings us to the next topic about how Caesar didn’t think about others first. This shows that Caesar wanted anything that would better him in life.
Julius Caesar was a politician, general, and dictator. He once said, “It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.” He was an incredible speaker of the time and was very well liked by most citizens. He brought a lot of change to Rome and was a very strong leader. Julius Gaius Caesar was born in Rome Italy, in 100 B.C., on July 13th.
