757 Words4 Pages

A wealthy senior in his late 80’s, Gordon Moore, is a philanthropist and former entrepreneur. His entrepreneurial life began with his good education that resulted in a Ph.D in chemistry and a minor in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1954. This led to him becoming the cofounder of Intel Corporation, in 1968 with his buddy Robert Noyce. Robert and Gordon created Intel Corporation after a rough couple of years they had with other projects like Fairchild Semiconductor. The corporation produces microprocessors, and is a leader in the microprocessor industry, today. Moore’s current $7.3 billion net worth makes him one of the richest men in the world and unlike some rich people, he engages in philanthropy a lot. His dedication for greater good and passion for environmental conservation makes him a respectable …show more content…

It takes time, effort and intelligence to reach a new opening discovery, etc. Gordon has several notable accomplishments in his scientific career. His very first project was the Fairchild Semiconductor Laboratory that he worked on with seven other coworkers. They were the “Traitorous Eight” that left William Shockley’s Semiconductor Laboratory which was Gordon’s first laboratory experience after his education. His next opening was a law that was really Gordon’s prediction on the topic of transistors and circuits (terms related to semiconductors) which was later proven to be true and became a law called the Moore’s Law. His last notable achievement was Intel Corporation which he confounded with Robert Noce, another member of the “Traitorous Eight”, his greatest discovery. At times, he would be recognized by Intel Corporation, at others, he would be recognized by his prediction that turned into a law, and rarely but nonetheless, he would be recognized for Fairchild Semiconductor Laboratory. All three of these are enormous accomplishments and to have all three belong to one person is
