David McCullough, in his Wellesley High School Commencement Address, utilizes imagery to convey to his audience that each individual possesses the same common potential. While addressing the graduating class of 2012, McCullough makes a point to emphasize how unexceptional the students are. By bringing to light the fact that the students are all wearing the same “ceremonial costume…shapeless, uniform, one-size-fits-all” (McCullough 1), he illustrates the conformity of the crowd. By depicting the cap and gown, McCullough demonstrates that each student at the ceremony are at the same level.

Wow, what a great and accomplished 4 years it’s been for us. Heck, it’s been an accomplished 10 years for us. It’s been a wild ride, and as it’s almost time for me to put down my bat and put away my glove, I have some thanking to do. So, thank you for everything, for everything you’ve taught me and everything you’ve made me learn through the game of softball. In my high school softball career, I have learned many valuable things from you.
The tone of these two letters affects them greatly. If the letters didn 't have a serious tone or was monotone the editor would not read the letter of it 's full length. the tone in letter a is very playful at first but becomes more serious closer to the end. " This is my first time writing a letter to the school newspaper." (Dave Kessler).
Hello Mrs. Stevenson, No, the blackboard is not associated with summer school content. With regards to your investment, Im sorry you feel like the price you have paid for Wiley 's summer school experience has no value now to you. I don 't know what Wiley got the first semester in the regular school year, but it seems he has advanced his first semester grade and put himself in a position/passed the first semester of summer school. If I am reading into what your saying a little more, its that you are disappointed in Wiley 's production thus far. What Wiley could do to advance himself for the next day/ the rest of the semester, would be to read the chapter, answer the questions at the end of each section to prepare for the content, and take the practice test at the end of his chapter.
Scicon informal letter Dear 5th grader, First of all, if you enjoy the outdoors, like to learn, love to walk on tiny, little trails and admire nature then Scicon is the right place for you. There are so many things that you can do while at Scicon, it includes arts and crafts, campfires, plays of the hermit stories, bird watching and so many more, that if I tell you everything that includes having fun at Scicon then there wouldn 't be any surprises for you and it would take up the whole letter. Next year if you plan on going to Scicon (which you should, I mean it 's a good idea) you should be looking forward to finding out what cabin you are in and who your counselor is. Also, on Wednesday you will get to pick your elective

As soon as you understand more about a person, you can be more empathetic and understanding of different cultures. I come from a Hispanic and German background so I have had the chance to enjoy multiple cultures already. Yet, experiencing and learning about new cultures is important to create better more understanding
I was very honored to know that I qualified as a possible candidate for the National Honor Society. To be honest, I never thought of being in the National Honor Society. Therefore, when I got pulled out of class I immediately thought I had done something wrong. I went home that day and told my mom about it. My mom looked me in the eyes and told me that she was very proud of me and gave me a big hug.
Hi Sumner, I’m glad to here from you. Yes, I’m back, but I haven’t return to work yet, I’m trying to settle first. My husband and I are staying in Pompano Beach while we find a home for us. Also, we are sharing car until next weekend, when he will get one. So, I won’t be able to help you this time, but I truly appreciate that you thought about me.
The train is on it’s way to the Dalles, we just left Whitman Mission about three days ago. John Adams has said that there are two ways to finish off the trip. WE can either float down on the Dalles or was can go around Mt. Hood on Barlow Road. I’m sure this decision will cause more controversy within the group. Today we reached the Dalles and decided to stop for lunch.
“You’re not telling us anything we don’t already know,” a girl in the front row said. “But why do we have to drink that Kool-Aid? We were all hoping you’d tell us that as Beacon teachers we could actually teach students something meaningful, not feed them corporate, federalized garbage.” “Not only are you going to have to feed them the Common Core, you’re going to have to make sure they’ve fully digested it,” James said. He was greeted with perplexed and frustrated expressions.
By nature, I am adventurous; I like to understand the world around me. As Benjamin Franklin stated, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I resonate with this quote because I explore my interests best when I am fully involved in a lesson, experiment, or discussion. The Smeal College-and its student organizations-offers unparalleled business opportunities that can be tailored to fit my specific needs which will allow me to conquer in its entirety my academic and intellectual ventures.
Discovering a new culture will help you understand your culture in a different
Throughout my experiences in this course so far, I have had many opportunities to reflect on my own past and have begun to better understand my own cultural identity. It has been much more difficult to wrap my head around than I would have predicted it to be because so many things play into the construction of an identity that it can be hard to look at all of those separate pieces together. My cultural identity, like all others, is more complicated than it first appears. I identify as a white person, a woman, an American, a gay person, and a feminist, just to name a few. While all of these labels carry with them stereotypes and expectations, they also interplay with the cultural influences I was subject to throughout my childhood.
