Growing in My Writing
When I started this English class four weeks ago, I would admit I was nervous. I have not had a teacher constantly reviewing my work in some time. I knew I had forgotten a few vital details about writing. In short, the fundementals I had learned in past classes had slowly slipped my mind. Although I had this mindset in the beginning, I can say my confidence in my writing continues to grow.
I can say that I have achieved some of the goals I had set for myself between the first and most recent papers we have written. Having a new set of eyes on my work helped me find mistakes I had overlooked. The online tutor that had reviewed my paper explained how I could improve my paper in a way that was comprehendible for me. She helped me find parts of my paper that could use improvement, and how to go about making the changes. Her opinions on the paper helped me to add details I had forgotten. I am not a “go with the flow” writer. I am a person who is constantly checking my work and reviewing my paper. I still struggle with word choices and comma placements. I know that myself as a proofreader alone is not enough, and I need that extra support. I contniue to use non-descriptive words in a handful of sentences. For example, “The things I do.” I know that the use of words like “things” is not as clear on paper as talking in person. I catch myself writing as if I were talking, I continue to try and improve my vocabulary on
