Did you know that 96 Americans die a day from guns even though all the gun laws that are being passed? People still think banning more and more guns will help but if someone truly wanted a gun they can still find a way around that. 22% of Americans own guns and there are about 200-300 million guns in the United States, so why try to take them away from everyone who owns one, it is not like they can go to everyone's door and ask if they own a gun and to turn it in. The main problem that people have about guns and want to ban are assault style rifles such as ar15’s. Recent studies have shown that in 2016, 374 people died from assault weapons and 7,105 people died from handguns so why try to go harder at banning assault weapons and not pistols. …show more content…

Guns have had many laws passed against them mostly after recent shootings that happen. States vary on gun laws, California has the strictest gun laws while Arizona has the least strict laws on guns. This depends on governor, how bad gun incidents happens in states and other factors vary in deciding what gun laws are like in different states. One very important gun law was the Brady Law passed by Democrats which means someone must have a complete background check before purchasing a gun in the United States. The federal assault weapon ban or the AWB was passed in 1994 and and it banned the act of civilian use on certain semi-automatic weapons or assault weapons. The NRA, (National rifle Association), National Association of gun rights and the Gun Owners of america are all trying to stop the rights on not to own guns. While 65% of Democrats and 32% of Republicans say gun violence is a very big problem in the United States. Democrats wish to have a stricter regulation put on gun laws and especially assault weapons. This is the same branch who passed the Brady Law and the Assault Weapon Ban, but the Assault Weapon Ban still expired in 2004 and Democrats have been trying to renew it since, but got it renewed in 2013 right after the Sandy Hook School Shooting, on the other hand republicans think gun control should not be so strict on gun laws. In The America We Deserve current president Donald Trump states “It’s often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed.” Both Republicans and Democrats support waiting longer to be able to own a gun and banning certain assault
