Gun Violence Guns are the second most common reason why people die every year. In America, approximately one mass shooting happens per year. The main reasons why owning guns is a problem is because people who own guns are more likely to kill others or to commit suicide. The story “Happy Endings” by Margaret Atwood could be used to oppose the issue of owning guns. This short story represents this controversial issue that has been happening over the last several decades. In part C of the story, Mary has a boyfriend called James, and John is married to Madge, but despite the age gap between John and Mary, they have an affair. The affair ends one day when John sees Mary and James in bed and decides to shoot them first and then shoot himself.
