From November 18, 1946 to November 22nd, 2012 there were 71 bodies found in Leakin Park ranging from ages 69 and below (Serial, 2013). One of those bodies found in 1999 was the body of Hae Min Lee. Hae Min Lee was found strangled to death, and jurors reached the conclusion that her ex boyfriend, Adnan Syed, committed the crime. Based on the evidence at the trial, such as how Adnan asked Hae for a ride after school, they assumed he was guilty. However, the verdict that the jurors reached was incorrect. Adnan should have been found innocent because Jay knew where Hae’s car was, nobody saw Adnan and Hae together after school, and Asia said Adnan was in the library between the time that the crime was committed. Based on the lack of witnesses and evidence there is not enough information to justify sending Adnan to prison for life.

In other words, sometimes the jurors don’t make the best of choices, although they are the only fair way to decide whether someone is guilty or not. That was definitely the case with Adnan because nobody had reported seeing him and Hae together after school on the day she disappeared. In fact, one of Hae’s friends, Summer, remembered talking to her after school in the gym area there: the wrestlers had been walking around, Summer was preparing the equipment they had to load onto the bus and Hae came in to say, “I’m not getting on the bus to the match, but I’ll see you there” (Serial, 2013). Summer says this wasn’t a quick conversation either. If no one saw Adnan and Hae together after school and Summer says she was with her for some time, then Adnan couldn’t have gotten a ride from her and couldn't have killed
