Harriet Tubman was one of the bravest women in U.S. history. She was well known for working in the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was an organization to help enslaved African Americans come out of slavery. From Ann Petry’s biographical narrative, “ Harriet Tubman; Guide to Freedom”, shows that Harriet Tubman and many other people will go to extreme measures to help provide freedom to others and themselves. Harriet did her journeys two times a year to save slaves and let them receive freedom. Ellen Craft dressed up as a wealthy young planter, while William Craft, Ellen’s husband, played her slave. While Thomas Garrett help take care of slaves while they try to escape. Harriet Tubman was truly a hero. Harriet Tubman was born a slave but was not going to die one. By her mid 20’s, she was going in groups of slaves to help them achieve freedom. But if something goes wrong, there may be some harsh consequences. From the story it says, “ Eleven of them.
