Heinrich Himmler was a part of the Nazi leadership from 1920-1945. He was born on 7th October 1900, in Munich- meaning he spent more than half his life as a Nazi. He was seen as “one of the most powerful leaders in Nazi Germany”, which tells us that he may have made many important decisions through his leadership and it tells us that he had a high status, leading him to achieve what he believes in.

In 1933, Himmler set up the first Nazi concentration camp, Dachau- which tells us that he believed in the Nazi takeover so strongly that he helped to begin a genocide. He controlled the concentration camp system, supervising many executions. The outbreak of WW2 came in great ‘success’ for Himmler as he could “pursue the elimination of Jews and other so-called ‘sub-humans’”. He went on to invade Poland, ending in one million Poles and 300,000 Jews forced out of Poland to be replaced with German settlers. Some techniques used in his films were said to be to the standards of “modern complexities of organisation”- which shows that he was a smart and methodical person as his work shared the same qualities of work in the 21st Century. For the most parts of WW2 it was easy for Goebbels to handle the propaganda as Germany had no major failures.
