The Atomic Bomb at Hiroshima The United States used the atomic bomb at Hiroshima in August of 1945 during World War II. They were the first and only nation to ever use an atomic weapon during war time. The explosion wiped out about 90 percent of the city, 80 thousand people were killed and many more passed away due to radiation exposure. This caused the Japan emperor to surrender. The Manhattan Project was based on the American industrial, scientific, and technological knowledge to produce the atomic bomb. The United States went through many consequences after the bombing; many survivors to this day suffer from psychological and physical damage. I believe that the atomic bomb shouldn’t have been used to attack Japan, the bomb was inhumane. During World War II Judson Knight said that it was the largest armed conflict in human history. The allies were the Unites States, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. The axis, which were the countries against the allies included Germany, Japan, and Italy. Thousands of innocent people died due to this war between the United States and Japan. They could’ve shown Japan a demonstration of the bomb so Japan could fear of what could happen to their city and people and then give them the choice to surrender. This atomic bomb literally wiped out the whole city of Hiroshima; it was suicide to the civilians that lived at Hiroshima. They didn’t even know what was going on. Many people to this day are debating whether the bombing at Hiroshima was what the United States had to do.
