“The National Alliance to End Homelessness states that there are 564,708 people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the US. 36,907 (6.38%) are children, 47,725 (8.33%) are veterans, and 269,991 (47.6%) are disabled and unable to work.” (Front Steps). The percentage of homeless people in the United States is a very scary, and tragic number. Homelessness is a very real problem going on in America right now, but it is not just happening in America, it is all around the world. Although it is rather difficult to try and help them all, it is possible. That is where Baskets of Love will come into place. The goal is to help give the homeless the essential needs of survival and more. A basket will contain items such as a blanket, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, some food, water, and a little bit of extra money to keep them set for a little while. This plan will be made possible by advertising to get the word out, donations through the local to help with funding, and middle/high school students will come out to help.

Many students are wanting to build their volunteer work hours for scholarships but they do not know where to start or how to begin and this gives them a great opportunity to build those hours and grow a bond and friendship they will meet throughout this program. This program will also build teamwork and social skills. Baskets of Love also provides giving the kids the chance to get out and get active. The students will fill in the spot for who will help volunteer to make this program work. It is beneficial for the program and for the middle/high school students who choose to
