In Grafton High School, teachers assign homework like most schools. We need to keep our homework policy and not ban homework. Homework is valuable for students because it helps student develop life long skills, makes students more active in and out of the classroom, and helps prepare students for when they graduate out of high school or college. To get far in life, it is important that students have the proper skills that will help them get there. “After-school assignments don't just have academic effects—they also are linked to kids' motivation to do the right thing and work hard.” (Glum) When students work hard, students will become responsible and become more proficient with their skills. “Homework is also thought to improve study habits, attitudes toward school, self-discipline, inquisitiveness and independent problem …show more content…

“Homework is an important part of engaging students outside of the classroom.” (Infographic) When students have bonds with people, that can make them social, and that will teach students the importance of communication. Communication is also another great skills for when you are struggling and need help but the teavher is occupied. Peers can learn to help one another out so they can recieve the correct knowledge to help them achive better scores. “Harris Cooper, who found evidence of a positive correlation between homework and student achievement, meaning students who did homework performed better in school.” (Riely) When students do better in school, students become more advanced which can lead to more opportunities with scholarships, internships, jobs, and more. Although many parents believe that homework is time consuming, students will develop another skill of time managment. Time managment is a skill that is used for everyday life, in and out of school and it is essential for students to learn this so they can apply it to their everyday
