In Honor There is Respect Have you ever watched a movie or read a book set in the medieval times? More accurately called the Middle Ages, the medieval times are typically written in fiction as a land of knights and magic. Knights rescue distressed maidens from towers guarded by ferocious fire-breathing dragons or evil witches and then marry each other out of true love. Though those kinds of events only happened in fairy tales, there is historic evidence of a knight class. Qualities like honor were very important to the average knight, because certain traits were all they could lay claims to. In a similar way, Jedi from Star Wars view honor and integrity as an important discipline to teach to young Jedi. Honor is an important quality to have …show more content…

Courage is a quality which gives a person the ability to face hardship and danger. Anakin Skywalker displays bravery when he scrambles to go save his mother on the desert planet of Tatooine from the Tusken Raiders (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones). Even though he is warned by Lars that she is probably dead, Anakin goes anyway to face the danger in the prospect of rescuing his mom. Anakin was born and raised on Tatooine and had personal experience on the dangers of the planet, including the Tusken Raiders. Even with that knowledge, Anakin resumed his quest to deliver his mother from the hands of the Tusken Raiders and exemplify true courage. Bravery is also exemplified when the Jedi are in the arena on the planet Geonosis. Even with the knowledge that they are outnumbered, the Jedi refuse to back down and surrender during the fight with the battle droids. They instead face the hardship and danger of fighting when they are so extremely outnumbered. They were willing to fight until either they decimated the droid army or were all killed, which shows an enormous amount of bravery. Senator Padmé Amadala shows courage when she flies her Nubian starship to Geonosis to save Obi-Wan Kenobi. A droid attacks Obi-wan during his transmission, so Padmé knows going to Geonosis is dangerous, but chooses to anyway. She valiantly goes to save Obi-Wan from whatever perilous predicament he is in despite the peril Padmé knows …show more content…

Anakin shows disrespect to Obi-Wan when he talks back to Obi-Wan throughout the beginning of the movie. Because of his belief that he is the Chosen One who will bring balance back to the Force, Anakin believes that he cannot do anything wrong and doesn't respect Obi-Wan. Anakin repeatedly disobeys and does not listen to Obi-Wan, like when he rushes into battle with Count Dooku instead of listening to Obi-Wans point about how they needed to attack together. A second way Anakin shows disrespect is in extracting revenge from the Tusken Raiders for the death of his mother. Rage completely takes over Anakin's thoughts after the death of his mother during his attempt to rescue her. In murdering the Tusken Raiders, Anakin dishonors his mother and shows he does not respect the values she had in life. Anakin's mother would not have wanted anyone to die because of her, shown by the fact that she had no animosity towards the situation she or her son were in in the first movie. Anakin also personifies disrespect when he abandons following the Jedi order to marry Padmé. Anakin admits marrying Padmé is against the Jedi Code, but values his emotions over being a Jedi. By infringing the rules that define him as a Jedi, Anakin displays the truth that he does not fully respect them. Respect is something to give to those who deserve it, but disrespect should never be given to anyone
