Recommended: Importance of community service for college students
When I think back and recall a place I am fond of, I immediately think of Agnes Scott College. I have only been there once, but hat one time is why it holds such nostalgia for me. The college itself has no actual significant meaning to me, but the gym there does. In the walls of that gym I literally left blood, sweat and tears. My very small high school volleyball team made it all the way to the GCIC State Playoffs, which was held at that college.
Though my list of goals could go on for pages, they’re all motivated by one common goal: to continuously better myself and the impact I leave upon others. The Honors College would serve as a vehicle for this self-improvement and foster deep relationships with professors and peers, research, and a love for learning that goes far beyond the classroom. I believe one of the most appealing aspects of the Honors College is the opportunity to research. There are many topics I’m interested in researching, one of them being our public schools and the achievement gap that comes with them.
Throughout my whole life, the California Academy of Sciences has served as a source of inspiration. I really appreciate how the Academy and its staff are extremely dedicated to science and try their absolute best to help educate and motivate the public. I also appreciate that the Academy frequently updates its exhibits to bring in fresh scientific material to keep the public interested. The Academy has also fueled my interest in science from a young age. I used to go to the old Academy in Golden Gate Park before it was renovated and I was fascinated by the dinosaur exhibits that were displayed.
I enjoyed being a part of the James Madison community. I liked being at a university whose goal is get students to become hard working and community based. I loved the diversity and philanthropy that JMU offers. I met outstanding citizens, whose backgrounds all were different, that merged together to become one big community. I also loved how the courses challenged me to think critically and exceed beyond my regular realm of thinking.
I learned something very important as I visited and did research on Palm Beach Atlantic University; it is a place where the spiritual aspect of my life could be an integral part of my college experience. I believe that at PBA. , I can achieve both my short- and long-term goals as someone who wants to follow in the path God has laid out for me. I look forward to intertwining my Christian beliefs with my academic and social endeavors at PBA, knowing that God has his hand on my shoulder leading me in the right direction. The morals and policies of the school fit me as an individual because I choose to be involved with activities that contribute to my personal and spiritual development.
I believe that TCU is a great fit for me because I am a student who believes in constantly improving myself and my skills. I am an actively involved student in my school community, and I love the fact that TCU offers such a wide variety of classes and organizations for students like me to take part in. I know that I personally thrive best among other students who not only push themselves, but encourage those around them to do so as well, and from meeting many TCU students, it is evident to me that TCU embodies that idea. After my time at TCU, I hope to discover a more independent, authentic version of myself.
I have gained knowledge because I enrolling in higher level classes such as honors and AP classes. They changed me by having a better understanding of how college is going to be like for me in the future. Some honors and AP classes I have taken are: Geography, computer science, Spanish, pre-calculus, anatomy, U.S history, statistics, and government. All the preparation of my classes, teachers, and the programs I have participated in have helped me to know that I can go to college and if I try I know can be successful. I was in AVID my 7th and 8th grade years and in the Scholars program during my freshman year, but my second year of high school, I decided it was best for me to manage my way out of the Scholars program because I preferred
We Only Grow from Our Freshman Year I expected my first year in college to be one I would never forget. I was right; I will never forget my first year in college because I hated it. I attended Texas State University my freshman year and still a student. With a student population of over 35,000, I felt like it’ll be awesome. I would find a group of friends and be involved with our beautiful campus.
College begins another chapter in every person 's life, not only to pursue a higher degree of education, but to also expand our knowledge and amplify an individual perspective in life. Philosophy is a course that would be fascinating to learn more about knowing the only similarity we all have in common is simply being human, but the way we think is unlike based on aspects such as race, culture, gender and many others. In order to elicit interest in others an open discussion should be presented to see how divided the class would be on one topic or thinking process supported by the individual 's point of view. The best way to make the most of this class would be to conduct an interviews with a variety of people to understand what ideas
The learning experience was quite beneficial and we all got a taste of how different pieces are treated in college. Gospel was the first chorus to perform and
By participating in Early College program, provided by the school, I had the opportunity to take college courses. I used the program as an advantage to explore careers and one of them was by taking the course, Fashion Merchandising. In this course we were able to show our creativity skills by creating our own designs, having makeovers, and crafting our own magazine. This inspired me to search for a career path that was related to this specific course and therefore decided to major in Marketing (Business). Majoring in marketing will not only allow me to use the skills that I have and have a close similar experience to the course that I took, but it will also allow me to use the skills in special events like providing information to my community,
I chose this program so I can one day achieve my dream of helping innovate within the tech industry by applying my knowledge and creativity. The computer science program at Ryerson University will be my ticket to achieving that dream. I know that at Ryerson I will be able to receive its world class education and surround myself with those who will inspire and challenge me. I know I don’t have the best grades for reasons that will sound like nothing more than excuses but believe me when I say I will strive for greatness. Ryerson won’t just be an institution of higher learning for me; it will be where I prove my capabilities to my peers, my educators, and myself.
I believe my speech, “College is Worth the Time & Money,” was very appropriate the audience and occasion. I was assigned the task of presenting my audience with a speech over any topic as long as it was a topic that could be argued for or against. With my audience being college students, I believed that my topic would be very appropriate and could even strengthen their confidence by persuading them that they made the right choice by furthering their education by coming to college. After finding the topic that I decided to present as my persuasive speech, I immersed myself in as much information as I could find about it.
It helped me to understand more about the community college and how I can help the community college continue to thriving. The overall course was well organized, easy to navigate around and find the assignments such as comments, module, grades and what I did not understand, Ms. Ali took her time to explain to me. I really enjoyed taking this class and getting to know my classmates and reading everyone’s view point about the community college. Do you feel you have a better grasp of the "meaning" and purpose of the community college?
Taking this class has had a profound impact on me. I have learned how to properly study for a college class. Also, I learned how to effectively communicate and reach out to my professor. This was my first college course which gave me a learning experience about psychology and myself as a student. I have learned how to manage my time, study in ways that are better for me, focus on the task in front of me, and reaching out and taking opportunities.
