Wina was able to have a better chance of applying for more companies because a business major is more abroad. Not only did it bring economic benefits, but it helped in a way that she could become more confident since she persevered and achieved her dream of earning a degree. Also, she learned a lot of college lessons during those years and is able to practice it in real life, In the end, interviewing my mom, Wina Bailey, helped me understand and learn from her mistakes and how college is a huge benefit of being successful in life. The last message my mom presented to me is to go to college right after high school, get it done right away, and take advantage of opportunities whether it’s tutoring or being able to retake a test, Nonetheless, “ Time management is the utmost, once you get that down you won’t be overwhelmed” this allows any college student to be prioritized and have a “better flow” when it comes to school or college work.
This is only part of what Peter Cappelli was explaining in his article “Why Focusing Too Narrowly in College Could Backfire”. In “Why Focusing Too Narrowly in College Could Backfire” Cappelli explains how that business majors out number liberal art majors 2-1 in America, but how will that play out when it comes to job searching if the job market is filled with more employees than employers. “When going into college and going the traditional route, you should wait on choosing a major” Capelli says. Although picking your major later in your college career seems a bit fishy, there are many reasons it may benefit you in the long run.
It’s taken me my 18 years of life to even finalize an official major other than knowing I wanted to pursue a career in business or design, but whichever I choose I know that I will excel in it regardless of what others say. I plan on getting my masters and hopefully I can work hard and receive it within 6 years or less if possible. When it comes to the future, I hope to be extremely well organized, and I hope to be able to have a steady job with steady
As a member of the TRiO program at Polk State College in Lakeland, FL, I have been encouraged students to keep with the education in college and help them with their assignments. When I saw a student having troubles with a topic in mathematic or chemistry, I address to the student(s), and I offer them a help or any advice that they could need. Constantly, I was working to improve my communicate skills to give a friendly, clear and professional information of the program or any other topic related to the education system at Polk State College. Usually, I took the initiative to talk with the student(s) about the multiples opportunist and helps that exist in the program, such as personal tutor, support in class with his/her assignments, and a
More than Marketing From the time I was a little girl, I have always been interested in business. Though I was not sure what exactly I wanted to do, I knew I wanted to learn about different people, communicate, and do a lot of research as part of whatever career I chose to follow. As I explored different branches of business in High school, I took a beginner marketing class, and I was captured by the many duties of a marketer.
College begins another chapter in every person 's life, not only to pursue a higher degree of education, but to also expand our knowledge and amplify an individual perspective in life. Philosophy is a course that would be fascinating to learn more about knowing the only similarity we all have in common is simply being human, but the way we think is unlike based on aspects such as race, culture, gender and many others. In order to elicit interest in others an open discussion should be presented to see how divided the class would be on one topic or thinking process supported by the individual 's point of view. The best way to make the most of this class would be to conduct an interviews with a variety of people to understand what ideas
Tawney Nodland – As I look back over the past semester of English Composition, I realize that I have grown as a writer. Not onlyhas my understanding of the writing process changed, my whole attitude towards composition has too. This composition course has made a significant impact on my learning experience and has given me tools to take forward into my future educational and professional goals. Throughout this course, I have discovered things about myself as a writer and know some of my strengths and weaknesses. I now feel more prepared for future writing assignments, whether for work or for school.
Vishva Patel ENC 1101-2020 Professor Ben Rallo Spring-2015 My Reflections in This Course When I started this course, I wanted to learn and improve many things about English. At the start of the semester, I had set few goals for myself, and I almost accomplished them. One of them was improving the correct use of mechanics in writing. The use of grammar, punctuation, spelling and capitalization has definitely improved in my writing.
In this course I hope to gain new skills and techniques by diving into the creation process and I am looking forward to applying this knowledge in the classroom setting and receiving feedback on what I need to improve on so that when I get into the real world I will be able to take this experience and use it to help me create interesting and well developed scripts. One of the skills I am most interested in diving into is line editing. I struggle with this quite a bit, once I write something I tend to become attached and it becomes difficult to delete and change things. Also, I am intrigued by the idea of writing like I read, one word at a time, this sounds simple but I am so accustomed to looking at the end goal and the big picture that I have
At the University of Utah, and most higher education institutions, an academic writing course is required. Coming into this class, I thought it would be just another required course, teaching me how to prepare papers. Of course, I did learn how to paraphrase, synthesize, and collaborate, but I also learned how to enjoy writing and explore new concepts. Despite the label of requirement I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from Ms. Cottam’s writing class. The evolution of my papers became more clear, concise, and credible, a pivotal part in writing academic papers.
My reflection over “The Economic Guide to Picking a College Major” by Ben Casselman is overall good. It made me open my eyes about my life and what I'm going to do for my career. Also made me realize that getting a degree doesn’t automatically guarantee me a good paying job. I learned to go for something that you know you can graduate doing; however, if you like to have a challenge go for something high paying. The most popular jobs are usually the lowest paying jobs.
It is important to study something in school that you enjoy but that is also useful in the real world. I have always been asked, “what's your major?”. I would answer art history and always got a response like, “what are you going to do with that?”. Most parents and students don’t feel that there is a good foundation from learning Art History. It is often heard from high school and college students (influenced by their parents) that to succeed you must major in science, technology, engineering, or business.
You’ve gone to school with a particular career in mind, but even if you’re out of school and can’t find a job, which happens to a lot of college student, you have more
Taking this class has had a profound impact on me. I have learned how to properly study for a college class. Also, I learned how to effectively communicate and reach out to my professor. This was my first college course which gave me a learning experience about psychology and myself as a student. I have learned how to manage my time, study in ways that are better for me, focus on the task in front of me, and reaching out and taking opportunities.
Maywood Educational Fair was successfully held on Oct 15. I still feel the exciting and happy, even though it has already finished for a week. Everyone in my cohort uploaded and shared all the photos that were taken during the fair, which remind me all the time that we, as a cohort and a team, really did it! I think it was a great successful in my workshops.
