Doug L. is a Senior Master Sergeant with the Air Force and his job title is the Isochronical (ISO) Flight Chief. The job responsibilities that Doug has is coordinates large aircraft inspections, is a safety representative, the leader of crash damaged or disabled aircraft recovery (CDDAR) program, and a hanger manager. The authority that Doug has is to ensure items in the CDDAR trailer are ready for aircraft at all times, to point out any unsafe features on the aircraft, start or delay an ISO inspection for mission requirements. is a Senior Master Sergeant with the Air Force and his job title is Aircraft Maintenance Unit (AMU) Flight Chief. The job responsibilities that John has is that he controls the scheduling of crew chiefs, writes Airman’s work schedules and writes the orders to bring others out when needed, evaluates and writes reports on each worker about their performance, and is also the security manager of the Aircraft Maintenance Unit. John has the authority to reprimand crew chief personal, deny computer and flight line access, and sign off on different aircraft maintenance jobs that have been completed. John is truly one of the best leaders I have ever worked for and with during my military career. John shows excellent leadership skills by always involving other workers in decisions, motivates others, and has a positive attitude. He influences others to always be at their best and complete the best work as possible. His participative style allows others to speak freely of their ideas and goals to help complete the mission and jobs that are assigned to the team. Even though because of his rank and authority he has to give orders, he is never demanding and always goes to his workers for ways to get the job done. He asks for advice and what would be the best way to get everything completed. John empowers Airman, has a vision and passion for the Air Force, and builds confidence. is a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force and his job title is Fabrication Flight Chief. The job responsibilities that Justin has is that he is in charge of issuing uniforms, aircraft corrosion control, oversees the award and plaque production for achievement winners on base, and oversees the manufacturing of locally manufactured tools and aircraft parts. Justin has the authority to substitute aircraft parts for different areas, to order new uniform items as changes are made, and delegate what aircraft parts need painted and which specific part needed for the job. Even though I work with Justin every day as well, he has a very different style than others I work with. At times, Justin has the participative style of a leader and other times he is just a manager; it varies from day to day. One day Justin can be very supportive of other people’s ideas, and then other days he is demanding and shouting out orders; coming in to work you never know what type of person you are going to get that day. On the days that Justin is a leader, he is a great one. He is supportive, he communicates and listens well to all Airman’s ideas. On the opposite end, Justin also possesses manager qualities. He is close minded, demanding, and driven for results. When Justin is in manager mode, he is also is not very helpful with the workers to get tasks completed.
