Athens was one of the most influential civilizations because they experienced a major growth in complex thinking and artistic learning. Nothing like any other civilization has ever seen before. Athens was founded by a man named Pericles he was a 32 year old military leader who rose to power through his inspiring speeches. Many people call this time the Golden Age because they were inventing things and figuring things out. Athens was the birthplace of Democracy and valued religion throughout all of its reign. The civilization started small compared to its counterparts but at its peak had about 300,000 inhabitants. Lastly, the Court they made decisions in court dealing with juveniles and lawsuits. All high government positions were chosen by lottery. They understood and followed the proper qualifications for certain job. The democracy Athens created is very simple and less complex compared to ours. Their system sometimes didn't work but through all of Athens wars and hardships they would always revert back to democracy.

The Parthenon is a large stone temple whose known as some of Greeks finest architecture. The temple was built as a tribute to the Goddess Athena.
