Helen keller was a great woman who did many things. She changed the way civilization think about deaf and blind people and their ability to do things. While being blind and deaf, she innovated a new way to communicate with disabilities, raised money for young children that were deaf and blind, and was a role model who inspired many around the globe. Helen Keller helped young children around the world thru fundraising. She helped fundraised for organizations that would help the children to communicate.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.” This famous quote was said by Helen Keller, who was blind and deaf. Helen Keller inspired many people to not let something set them back from everyone else. I believe that Helen Keller is important to America’s history because she was very inspirational and did not let her deaf and blindness keep her from achieving her dreams.
She is very famous for being both deaf and blind and still being to communicate. According to History.com, “her impact as educator, organizer, and fundraiser was enormous, and she was responsible for many advances in public services to the handicapped(history.com)”. Despite all of her wonderful achievements and qualities, she was still blacklisted in the Red Scare of the 1920’s. Her progressive views on the government were not accepted by most. According to truthout.com, “In 1948, Keller visited Hiroshima and nagasaki, cities destroyed by American atomic bombs at the end of World War ll, and spoke out against nuclear war (truthout.com)”.
Helen Keller was famous for being deaf and blind when she was young she lost her sight and hearing when she was 19 months old when she became older she got a teacher to help her read and wright then when she grew older she soon died in June 1, 1968.
