In 1913 Henry Ford created the first assembly line that affected America greatly. Ford was interested about how things worked and how he can improve them. He started off by making pocket watches then realizing that there wasn’t a high demand. Later on ford started to work with investors to build the first car. He started to produce different cars that were also simple.
Industrialist, leader in innovation, and founder of Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford was the creator of the first moving assembly line. He greatly impacted the 20th Century, and transformed the automobile from a new money luxury to a modern and practical convenience. His Model T was the first vehicle that middle-class Americans were able to afford. The invention of the Model T would greatly change the society and revolutionize conveniences and transportation.
Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 on his parents farm. His parents were Mary and William Ford. At the age of sixteen Ford was tired of farm work and became an apprentice for a machinist. Later Henry would work on more machines and steam engines.

At the age of sixteen, Henry Ford left home to take an apprenticeship as a machinist at a shipbuilding firm in Detroit. In the following years, he would learn to skillfully operate and service steam engines. He also studied bookkeeping. Ford married Clara Ala Bryant in 1888, and they had a son named Edsel in 1893.

When Henry was younger his father gifted him with a watch, Ford then started to take it apart and reassemble it which got him into the manufacturing business. Ford revolutionized the American automobile industry but he did not invent the car, many were built way before his time. Their were many types of cars built like steam powered cars, electric etc. Ford decided to use combustion engines to power a car. So by doing that, he made cars useable as well as affordable.
Owning a car is now as important as having a home to live in or having food on the table. Every household owns at least one vehicle. Henry Ford did not start out as an engineer, in fact his parents owned a farmed and he grew up as a farm boy. One fateful gift of a clock led him into dissembling and self-teaching himself the engineering skills with only an eighth grade level education. His new found experience created a passion for engineering and caused him to revolutionize transportation in America.
He was the oldest out of twelve children. He was born on July 31,1837 in Ohio. He was a well educated man,and at the age of sixteen he became a school teacher. In 1854, at the age of seventeen his father died,so he was left with all the families financial debt. He moved away and looked for ways to earn money.

In his younger years, Ford fixed watches for his friends and family. Once Ford was older, he served as chief engineer for the Edison Illumination Company for more than five years. Before Ford started his own business, Karl Benz was credited for the invention of automobiles, but Benz’s cars were expensive.
Ford, an American automobile manufacturer, was the creator of the Model T, but was not the first to create a gasoline engine powered automobile (“Henry Ford”). Both men were important people in American History, however, with this information and more, I believe Ford should be placed behind Bell at number twenty-five on The Top 100 list in “They Made America”(64). Although we know Henry Ford as the amazing creator of the Model T, did he really give us the first automobile? At times, I have heard students mention that Henry Ford is the all encompassing creator of the first automobile, but that is not the case. Yes, Ford created the Model T and other versions of what he believed a car should be, but he was not the father of the first automobile.
The first mention of a car can date back all the way to 1807. But the car as we know of today wasn't invented until 1886. The man who created the first gasoline powered car name was Karl Benz. Karl Benz was the founder of Mercedes which was the first car company around. The car was invented mainly to make a better life style for everyone, it was the cheapest way to travel besides train.
At age 17, he became a Blacksmith’s apprentice. Then at 21, he got into blacksmith trading. For the next twelve years he traded in towns around Vermont. At age 33, he moved to a small town called Grand Detour, Illinois, due to lack in demands of products back in Vermont, yet again setting up another Black smith shop.
