Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) sacrificed his life trying to improve and better the lives of African-American citizens. He is viewed as one of the greatest American Civil Rights leaders of the 1950s and 1960s. His famous speeches raised lots of awareness to eliminate racism. Hence, he has impacted the history of the United States greatly. One of the most important achievements in the Civil Rights movement was the Civil Rights Act that was passed in 1964. The March on Washington where he made his famous speech, “I Have A Dream”, helped him increase his movement and influence citizens to end racism in the United States. Michael King was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Both King Jr. and King Sr. legal name at birth was Michael King.
