The Civil War was a battle between the north and south that neither side had anticipated would be so long and difficult. This long lasting war involved several battles that led to thousands of casualties on both sides. A total of more than six hundred twenty thousand American men perished. The objective of the Civil War was to abolish slavery from the north’s perspective, or to keep the southern lifestyle as the southerners justification to fight. The winning side of this war would change the history of slaves, and whether or not it still exists to this day.
The Civil War was one of the most devastating wars in American history. It was fought between the North and the South over Slavery. It impacted both the South and the North’s economy. Many people died trying to re-unite the country over slavery, “over 620,000 people died in the Civil War” (Riggs 2 ). This proved that the war not only affected the country and the economy; it also affected the people as well.
As we know, the concluding factor of the war, left the north in victory. This created a massive amount of changes to be made in American society. Although slavery was abolished during this time, other challenges arose during the reconstruction era in the south. I strongly argue that, through the result of the

The cause of this conflict were the differences of the North and South cultures and their rights. During Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, the South was agricultural which meant that they needed slaves; however, the North was industrial. The South also wanted states’ rights and decide their way of life rather than following federal authorities.
The conclusion of the Civil War negatively impacted the South. Though President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, the Southerners tried to limit their freedoms. The Democrats of the South then went on to limit the freedom of African Americans by creating Black Codes. These laws were created to keep some racial slavery without using slaves. Their purpose was to maintain segregation and white supremacy.
During the years of 1861-1865, about 620,000 people had lost their lives due to overall disagreements between the North and the South revolving around the subject of slavery. Thereby having an effect on the people of the country. The North and the South had differences among each other that relate to why the majority of one economy favored slavery and why the other economy did not. Therefore, the North and the South’s perspective of slavery had caused certain events to lead up to the civil war.
The Civil War had profound political, social, and economic implications for the United States. It resulted in the abolition of slavery, the preservation of the Union, and the establishment of a stronger federal government. The war also brought about significant changes in American society, as millions of soldiers and civilians were affected by the violence and destruction caused by the conflict. The Civil War also had a lasting impact on the economy of the United States.
The Civil War has had a significant impact in history for the nation today. It reconstructed our ideas about our freedom and equality. The Civil war was a very devastating time during the mid 1800’s. Things such as slavery, racism,and segregation took over. People had sacrificed their lives to devote freedom for our soon to come nation.

The Civil War is often referenced as a turning point in the social structure of the United States and it became a defining moment of governing for the future of the country. The Civil War was fought to determine whether the country would have individual state rights or one governing body for all. The war also was fought to abolish slavery, which would end this country’s reign as the largest slaveholding country in the world. The North and South fought bitterly over these ideas and issues.
