Next, is the motivation of the colonists in this region. They would seem to be in pursuit of land to expand their plantations onto. If your council could possibly offer contracts that would allow further exploration and territory control to the colonists in order to get them to fight. Also, they are certainly not stupid enough to go to war without decent weapons and protective armor. This could pose a problem due to the high prices of manufacturing. If the colonists did fight, their families would probably need extra protection with so many capable people gone for who knows how long. Also, the southern region is the most independent from other regions, being the least reliant on trade with others. The colonists could request that they are granted a political position or some kind of political power over their peers. I do not recommend allowing this to happen because it would shatter the fragile governmental system established in the south. Another option is allowing a royal pardon from prison or eve deaths row in exchange for service defending the colonies. This idea is risky, but it could have its benefits if we choose inmates wisely. Some would do anything to be back on the roads breaking the laws, but some who committed small crimes and would do anything to just escape their prison cell would be perfect for the job. Slaves are another force to help us. They could fight for their freedom, and the slave owners may just make their slaves do it. One other motivation is fear. You could threaten the colonists that you will hurt them and tax and close trade with them if not enough people join the war effort. This is extremely risky, considering we do not want an “American Revolution”
