During the takeover Hitler made it aware to the Czechs that the Germans have power over them and made them follow a strict policy that limited their military and defensive strength so they could never build up the power to take back their land from the Germans. The Czechs did not have the forces to go against Hitler and win so they decided to submit to German rule. Once Slovakia became officially independent they were placed under the protection of Germany which ultimately meant they too would fall to Hitler.
