The business world is continually changing with new visions, new technology, new systems and new projects. Change management is a complicated process that moves an organization from their current state to the expected future state. The way an organization responds and adjusts to changes will decide whether the change can withstand sustainability. Using Kotter’s process steps to change management will help organizations to implement a change more efficiently and effectively with minimal or no obstacles. The change entails restoring the health care to elderly patients in a geriatric facility. This is an important change because providing care to the elderly is a significant responsibility and families put their faith in the facility and employees to take care of their loved ones. This paper will examine how leadership will implement restoring of care in the geriatric facility by using Kotter’s process steps to change management. According to Campbell (2008) obstacles can prevent the change from occurring, these obstacles can be in the form of employees, systems, lack of information, and management. Leadership and the process committee will work together to determine who or what the obstacles and barriers are. Leadership will work to empower the employees to jump on board and into the action. They will create new performance measures and job descriptions to align with the new vision change. The individuals who are supporting and involved with the change will receive recognition and on a weekly basis employees will be rewarded with a monetary reward or gift card. The geriatric facility will also provide new training and educational sessions for employees to increase skills, knowledge, behaviors and
