The publisher’s intended audience are people who advocate for the rights of animals and are searching for different methods of testing products. The purpose is to inform the people that animal testing is “old school” compared to the new innovative ideas. They want the people to be aware that these experimentations are not successful with the animals nor when they are tested on humans.
Purpose: To inform the audience about animal testing I. Introduction A. Attention getting device: Approximately 26 million animals are used every year in US laboratories for cosmetic and biomedical research. B. Thesis: I would like to inform you about how animal testing is conducted. C. Credibility: I have read and studied the articles about animal testing. D. Preview: I am going to share with you purposes of animal testing, how animals are used in laboratory tests, and the effectiveness of animal testing.
Every day, thousands of animals are subjected to cruel, inhumane treatment. In the United States, there are many laws in place to prevent the mistreatment of animals, but one of the most harmful ways of abusing animals is not only legal, but considered by many to be completely justified. The process described is that of animal experimentation, the act of performing experiments on an animal that can deliberately cause the animal suffering and even death. Animal testing should be abolished because it is unnecessary, inaccurate, and cruel to animals. Firstly, animal testing is an inaccurate and outdated means of gathering information.
Animal Clinical Trials Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs every year (¨11 Facts About Animal Testing¨);this is a scary statistic considering how far scientific research has advanced throughout the past few years. The ways in which professionals go about testing new cosmetic and medical products have proven to be unethical and immoral, yet these individuals continue with their methods, remaining ignorant to the crimes done to animals who are entitled just as much as humans to live freely on earth. It is necessary for scientists and medical professionals to develop new cutting edge vaccinations, medical treatments, and more sophisticated cosmetics, however the ways in which these have been achieved
Animal testing has been a controversial issue for the past thirty years. Society feels as if animal testing is a technique of the past and should be outlawed in the United States like the majority of the world. Federal law shows us how little protection animals have, numerous recalled or discontinued medications are proof that research on animals to predict effects on the human body is highly unreliable. The humane society provides numerous examples of the cruel treatments and conditions animals must endure. Scientists have presented us with alternatives that are more cost-effective and produce less waste with higher accuracy rates.
The physical suffering and discomfort that animals test subjects experience during research that are frequently faulty, limited, and expensive are the factors that advocates for stronger animal rights fight to end. Each day that an animal is subjected to animal testing is another day that they suffer. The test subjects become nothing but a prisoner to the scientists and researchers. Animals in laboratories are permitted by law to be “burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain damaged” all for scientific research (“Cruelty to Animals”). As stated prior, once the experiments are over the animals either die or are thrown back into their confined cages or stocks and used for a later experiment.
Have you ever wondered how most scientists make cosmetics and drugs? I can tell you in two words… animal testing. In case you did not know, animal testing is a horrible thing scientists do to animals. Animals caged up in laboratories wait in silence, pain, paranoia, and fear until the next experiment. Right now, as you read this, thousands of dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, monkeys, and more are either being tested on, or trapped in sinister cages of darkness, pain, and suffering.
Henceforth, as animal testing increased, so did the controversy surrounding it (“Animal testing,” n.d.). Moreover, with the help of animal testing, various treatments and medicines are developed for unconventional diseases. Although animal testing may seem ruthless, animals are used for experimental research that contributes to science if there are no other possible substitutes. Animal testing is a debatable topic that still continues to be one until this time. Animal experimentation should persist because it saves human’s life from diseases, ensures cosmetics’ safety, and improves medical
Animal testing is a highly controversial subject, disputed among many. It is evidently not pleasant to animals, but it is extremely beneficial for scientific findings. Some say it is a necessary evil, and some say it is animal cruelty. Others cannot simply make up their minds about this subject. Although many people are against animal testing, it must continue due to medicine development, advantages of testing animals over other subjects, and the regulated experiments for the animals’ safety.
Animal testing is known as vivisection and in vivo. There are approximately 12.1 million animal experiments were conducted annually in Europe (Murnaghan, 2010). Animal testing has been practiced across the history of medical research and one of the famous researchers was Galen, ‘Father of Vivisection’. In recent years, a lot of animal rights groups and animal protections have criticised about the practice of using animals for biomedical research (Hajar, 2011). To illustrate, European Union regulators have decided to forbid on the import and sale of cosmetic that contain ingredients that had tested on animals and pledge to pursue China to accept alternatives (Kanter, 2013).
I’m here today to talk about a controversial issue that has been around for a period of time, animal testing. Animal testing using animals in experiments with different chemical substances in everything from medical to cosmetic to determine their safety as well as effectiveness . It’s a problem that has existed since the 3rd and 4th centuries BCE with its merciless methods and painful ways of abusing animals for human demands, but now it’s time for it to stop. Our technology has developed significantly since; therefore, such medieval methods of torturing animals are no longer necessary. Researches have shown that each year, over 100 million animals are tortured and killed in American laboratories alone, including dogs, cats and more; this shows how far out of hand animal testing have gotten.
Animal rights are rights believed to belong to animals to live free from use in medical research, hunting, and other services to humans. All animals have the ability to suffer in the same way and to the same degree that humans do. Whenever we consider doing something that would interfere with their needs, we are morally obligated to take them into account. Many people don’t respect animals rights even though they earned them in 1970. Animal earned the right not to be abused and tested on but yet it continuously happens.
Imagine an enraged animal rights activist charging toward a scientist in a white lab coat, desperate to free the little mice that are being used as test subjects. Although comical, this scene may be quite accurate when describing the passion that animal lovers have when it comes to the touchy subject of animal testing. For centuries, animal testing has been used in the medical research field, however many are now beginning to question whether it is ethical. Millions of animals are killed per year due to animal testing, so is this practice worth banning? Animal testing is a controversial subject, with supporters pointing out the medical advances that have stemmed from animal research and animal rights activists declaring it cruel and immoral.
Animal testing is a phrase that most people have heard but are perhaps still unsure of exactly what it involve. Whether it is called animal testing, experimentation or research, it should be defined as all testing methods on animals including, medical exploration, cosmetics, toxicology trialing, and psychological examination involving animal subjects. It is used to assess the safety and effectiveness of medications and beauty products as well as understanding how the human physiology works. While supporters believe it is necessary practice, those against animal testing believe that it involves torture and suffering to animals. Medical research is the hardest case of proposition in the debate whether animal testing should be banned or not, since it has previously yielded substantial benefits for humanity.
Science researches believe that products which have been tested on animals will make humans’ life better. However, the main concern on this issue is that animals are suffering from unnecessary pain. Animals are mostly exposed to radiation, forced to inhale poisonous gases and injected with harmful substances prior to the experiment. Thus, animal testing should be banned because it is cruel, the result is unreliable and expensive.
