During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
She states in the text, “Oh, Anne, how could you?”. This proves that Anne is maturing because she asks herself why she called her mom these things in her diary. She also tries to apologize but can’t bring herself to do it. Anne finds out why mummy’s been so annoyed with her.
The reader can see this by when Mr. Dussel comes to hide with the people in hiding, Anne steps up and says that he can live with her, and even walks Mr. Dussel to the room they are going to live in together. As the war begins to get worse, the reader can see how Anne reacts to the air strikes and the Germans taking Jews away from their homes. The way Anne is reacting to her situation is showing her growing maturity. Another way Anne shows her maturity in Scene Four is when Anne makes gifts for everyone in the Secret Annex for Hanukkah. Even though she fought with a lot with everyone in the Secret Annex she still made them presents.
Frank, who never had a strong relationship with her mother, finds it nearly impossible to connect with and love Mrs. Frank when it seems like she’s constantly criticizing her every move. The tension between the two became extremely noticeable during a diary entry from April 2, 1943. “Just as I shrink at her hard words, so did her heart when she realized that the love between us was gone.” (Frank 77) states Frank, making it clear to readers that the mother-daughter relationship has been ruined. What’s more, on January 5, 1944, Frank remarks that she imagines a mother as “a woman who…does not laugh at me if I cry about something…like ‘Mums’ does” (Frank 129).
1: How people adjust to tough situations really brings out there character. How these people react always shows what kind of human they are. If a tough situation happened usually the most mentally tough person always survives. It is what it is, staying mentally tough always wins the tough battles of life. In the next paragraph I will tell about a women named Anne Frank that has this type of perspective 2: Anne Frank was a real human being during World War 2.
In 1933, Germany was ruled by the new dictator Adolf Hitler. He wanted to create the perfect Aryan race, so he murdered many Jewish people, minorities, and people of color. During this time period Anne Frank and her family went into hiding in a secret annex located in Amsterdam. Anne Frank is a Jewish girl that documented the struggles and living conditions in her diary. In the play titled, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, the audience gets to see the life of Anne Frank and her seven “roommates” live together for over two years.
The playwrights thought it would be funny for Anne to interrupt the Van Danns and embarrass them by saying they fight like children. In the actual diary Anne Frank got along with the Van Danns. The change they did was not justified as in reality Anne was not a snotty kid as she was a curious and optimistic
In “The Diary of Anne Frank” on page 523, Anne expresses her emotions by saying, “With all the boys in the world… why I had to get locked up with one like you!” This quote is Anne expressing her feelings freely and using the characteristics of intense feelings from the intensity emotional. Anne continues to show emotion by saying, “but I really don’t know yet myself. I only know its funny never to be able to go outdoors…never to breathe fresh air… never to run and shout and jump. It's the silence in the nights that frightens me most.”
The grueling experience she was forced to undergo changed Anne’s personality from a energetic and silly schoolgirl to an insightful and sophisticated adolescent. Before the Secret
A mother and daughter are expected to always get along, and a daughter is expected to always respect her mother. Anne Frank and her mother, Edith, have a very complicated relationship. At times, Anne and her mother do not have the expected relationship, and their reality is that Anne sometimes disrespects and does not get along with her mother. Anne acknowledges their relationship when she says, “I simply can’t stand Mother, and I have to force myself not to snap at her all the time and to stay calm when I’d rather slap her across the face. I don’t know why I’ve taken such a terrible dislike to her” (Frank 51).
The 1940s were a crucial time all over the world with hardships and wars going on for years. Within these wars, two little girls that have been apart of it their whole lives, have shared their experiences through a diary and a book of stories. The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl named Anne Frank, who has to go into hiding with her family in order to not get caught and taken away by the Nazis in Amsterdam, and while in hiding, records her experiences and thoughts into her diary. Farewell to Manzanar is a book based on a girl named Jeanne Wakatsuki who is seven years old at the time, and gets taken away with her family to Manzanar encampments, as the U.S. government doesn’t want to risk any Japanese Americans possibly giving up information to the Japanese as they are at war with them. Anne Frank and Jeanne Wakatsuki have many similarities and differences throughout their lifetimes on the run from the war.
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone,death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
The novel is written from a third person objective. This novel is written as a play, so I know that this is third person. Plays are narrated in third person because you do not see the play through one character 's viewpoint. Also the word I does not often appear in the play.
The authenticity of ‘Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl’ has aroused much controversy in the society. To a large extent that many people are having doubt about its authenticity and I would like to take a deep look on it by analyzing different parts of the text and comparing with relevant historical events and secondary resources, and evaluate whether the diary is authentic or not. The book published in 1947 in Dutch. It was translated to English and published in 1952.
