Money & Power in ¨The Great Gatsby¨ In The Great Gatsby, power is often associated with money. And whoever has money has power. Money and power is also the center of many of the characters lives and mainly is the cause of many of the problems that also occur throughout the book. There is also something about having money and power in the novel that really changes the way that most of the characters act throughout the book. A way that Fitzgerald translates this is by Gatsby, the main character who was from a really poor family that had nothing who later on turned out to be a very wealthy man. I think that this theme is still very relevant to this day because everyone in this world has the dream to be rich and be powerful. In the ¨Great Gatsby¨ to me it is the most important theme throughout the book because throughout the whole story money or power always referred to in one shape or form. Money is a really important part to this novel because what money does is give power and in the time that the novel was based on was a time where most people were starting to become more and more wealthy. He is constantly trying to get her back by throwing parties every weekend in hope that she shows up to one, but she never does. He tries to win her over by showing her everything that he has and everything that he has accomplished. At first when she see everything that he has done with his life she was into him again and wanted to be with him again. But after a while when Tom started to investigate in what Gatsby did to earn his money he found out he didn't truly earn it and when he told this to Daisy she didn't really want to be with him anymore. This just come to show that money isn't everything because even after everything that Gatsby did for Daisy still didn't choose to be with
