Adolf Hitler was an individual who was able to get into the minds of people and cause them to change, “To be a leader means to be able to move the masses” (Huxley, 41). He did this through the use of propaganda in the form of devices such as the radio, books, and the press. Hitler stripped their identities and brainwashed them into thinking Jew, homosexuals and other groups of people were to be eradicated from society. One can also see this in the novel Brave New World their society also uses brainwashing as a form of establishing a “community” they use the practice of Hypnopedia to engrave the message of the world state in its people's brains while they sleep. When the humans of the World State are infants they are put into Neo-Palvovian conditioning rooms which teach them what is right and wrong “They’ll grow up with what the psychologist used to call an “instinctive” hatred of books and flower. The society of the millennium is known to them as the “old times” because of the way life was live, and it is ironic because there are areas in their world know as the “savage reservations” which function the same. They are referred to as “savage” because they believe in monogamy which is the practice of being with only one person at a time. This is ironic because when John and Linda came to the World State, John is rejected because he objects society's values and prefers to live as people did in “olden times” this is what makes everyone curious about him despite calling him names like “savage”. The World State is described as a place where everyone has their place and everything is very harmonious “And she would tell him about the lovely music that came out of a box and all the nice games you could play, and the delicious things to eat and drink...” (Huxley, 110) The World State’s motto is “Community, Identity, Stability” (Huxley, 1) but in reality the people of the world state are not themselves. They have lost their identity through hypnopaedia and conditioning. They are conditioned when they are young to not enjoy books or nature because by reading and gaining knowledge and by adventuring there is a possibility that they would not rebel against the World
