An officer is working for the public helping to protect and to help keep everyone safe from danger. The public does not work as an officer because they are not trained or are aware of how the job works. When misusing your power this takes an effect on the public and how they will function around the police. You want the public to feel welcome and that they feel safe knowing that there is an officer around. Police that are leaving horrible impressions on the public is what ruins the relationship between the people and officers.
In the last 10 years, we saw many conflicts between police officers and citizens, which result into dead of innocent people and it was not a good image for police department. One of the issues is that the law enforcement gives the police
The issue group I’ve been assigned to weighs in on race relations and law enforcement. My specific stakeholder involves cops perceptive. There have been many cases where cops feel attacked, and are feared by the public for many reasons. I want to know what the police in general think about this subject that has been so prominent in our lives and in the media lately. In my rhetorical analysis essay I will be going in depth on a video showing police officers trying to find common ground with ex felons.
This is not accurate to say the least. Officers are expected to live by near impossible standards set on them by the community they police, and if one individual was to taint the job the community can flip on them and make the job of being in law enforcement tougher than it
No one sees it but it happens. Police officers are characterized as enforcers with actions of tyranny and usurpations, to hold our rights or enforce power wrongfully. No one likes no one.
While it is hard to pinpoint a specific reason why this social issue is present in our country, I feel that it has escalated and gained more awareness in the past year as our political system has undergone radical change. People, including some police officers, seem to have gained a new sense of power in their positions and act out on those that they view as lesser than them or those that they don’t agree with. Citizens of our country are continually losing respect for police officers because of the actions of a few that is blasted across the media. If it continues, I fear that the lack of respect for our police across the country will outweigh the support for them and their jobs will become dangerous. Interest in their career may dissipate over time and our country would be in great need for individuals to protect their fellow citizens and enforce local and national
Police officers are the people that go out all day everyday around the clock with the job of patrolling our streets, and keeping the public safe. Police officers often receive negative attention in the media about the things they do wrong. The media does not talk about the officers, and the affect the day-to-day work has on them. Police offices are often stressed out with their job, and they often take that stress home with them. Police officers go to each shift and never have a clear picture of exactly what their day will look like.
Coming in and out of the store or driving around town, police officers are perceived in ways that don’t necessarily apply to the specific officer. Stereotypes and misconceptions have lead individuals to look at police officers differently, without making the effort to understand who they really are. As a child, I grew up believing that a police officer was scary and mean because my parents would tell me that the cops would take me away, if I didn’t wear my seatbelt. However, the information I wasn’t given was that the officer is doing his/her job by following the law, and if I break the rules, I am at fault and will be cited for it. At times that I saw police officers, some looked chubby, some had a mean look on their face while others looked buff and smiled at me.
In addition to racism, social media is making a significant impact on police brutality. Thankfully, most states have required police officers to install dash cams in their vehicles, and most officers are even wearing body cams. It’s finally becoming easier to find out who’s abusing their power and who’s doing their job. For instance, (HAUSER) “Michael Amiott was only terminated from his position as an officer for brutally beating a black motorist” Luckily the officer had a dash cam which made solving the case a lot easier.
The era of the internet has brought about a state-of-the-art technology known as social media. The social network has provided a platform for the public safety agencies to keep in touch with the public as well as offering education. Despite this, there are challenges the safety agencies are facing when relating with the social network. The main objective of the research project is to investigate the challenges faced in the effective usage of social media in public safety agencies. In the recent years, social media has become an effective way of communication.
It all depends on how well the police department can use the social media to there advantage and how they deal with people posting bad things about their officers and the department. There are different types of policing and each one looks at crime differently then the other and the main two types are problem-oriented policing and incident-driven policing. For the most part police departments used incident-driven policing, police departments just started changing over to the problem-oriented policing. Now problem-oriented policing is a different way to deal with crime. Instead of just arresting who ever commits a crime the police look at where is the problem coming from and how can we shut it down according to Crime
( Title) In society, police officers have become a key part in protecting the public. However, in recent years the topic of police misconduct has taken over the spotlight. Although the media seems obsessed with highlighting only the negative side of the force, there is more to the story. Police officers are as human as everyone else, and even they are not impervious to the pressures of society.
Many people would assume the police are there for our protection, nevertheless, there job is to protect the state. Some police officer that disobey the laws they are supposed to uphold. Some critics would believe that the people who fight back against police officers are the problem instead of the hidden racism. Police brutality has been affecting many people throughout history, which has become a social problem. Nevertheless, many people would state that the police are only doing their job, yet they are not being held accountable for their actions.
Police officers were once known as peace keepers, however, now they are the ones to avoid. They’re more worried about quotas, and are using their power to arrest innocent people that quickly escalates to police brutality. Our constitutional rights are being violated and that’s the biggest issue in America now. Police are supposed to protect and serve the people, however their power is being abused and it’s causing riots.
How do we police the police? This is a question that has been around for centuries, but no one has been able to come up with a clear answer because although there are recommendations on what should be done, it is up to the police themselves to provide constraints. It also may not come as a shock to some that police officers in the United States are taught that they can use deadly force if they reasonably believe an individual poses a grave, imminent danger to themselves or others. One of the primary rules taught at the police academy as that you shoot to kill, not to injure because if you only shoot to wound someone by shooting, you do not have jurisdiction to shoot at all. It is logical that they do have to protect themselves, however, that
