Imagine a world where censorship is in control of the everything ,and everything in the world was restricted without any reason. There would be no freedom for anyone anywhere. The reason why that world does not exist is because censorship is not meant to restrict or harm, but to protect. There are a number of issues that censorship was or is dealing with today. Censorship is an imperative directive in our society today and there are multiple reasons that show how censorship protects our society that involves children, internet, and television etc.
People that disagree with the ways of censorship will often complain about the reasoning behind banning books for certain age groups. There are tons of reasons for books being banned as much as they are. Mark Twain states in the article “I Am Greatly Troubled by What You Say, “I wrote ‘Tom Sawyer’ and ‘Huck Finn’ for adults exclusively, and it always distressed me when I find that boys and girls have been allowed access to them. The mind that becomes soiled in the youth can never again be washed clean.” This quote states that only a certain selection of books are meant for children. This quote also proves why other books were banned as well. This explains why young minds should only be allowed access to a certain range of books because some books could be to harmful to their minds.
