The Nazi:
The Nazi was a time for hardship and depression for the jews. It all began in 1918 in Germany. On November 9, 1918 a man named Kaiser Wilhelm II left his throne and went to the Netherlands. A socialist politician named Philipp Scheidemann established the German Republic. The leader of the socialists, Friedrich Ebert, was Chancellor. He also became president in 1919. On November 11, 1918 the Armistice was signed. That’s when the fighting stopped. German troops were mostly on enemy territory; they had not been pushed back onto German territory on most of the front. The Allied soldiers taken prisoner by Germany were immediately released. That was very huge. A year later the German Worker’s Party changed its name to National Socialist German Worker’s Party. They called them Nazi for short, and that is where they got the name Nazi. On July 28 1921, Hitler became the leader of the Nazis. Two years later he started the Beer Hall Putsch. In September 1924 Dawes Plan begins to be injected. The Dawes Plan was an attempt in 1924 to solve the World War 1 reparations problem that Germany had to pay. A year later Ebert dies and Von Hindenburg was elected as president. He didn’t belong to any party. After that the Draft Law against the Young Plan Happened.The Draft Law was a new law that required all men, ages 18 to 26 to register for the military. On February 23rd the first restrictions on homosexual rights groups were introduced. There were a lot of different things going on at the same time. Four days later the Reichstag building was burned down. One day after that the Emergency Decree for the Protection of People and State was passed, which led to the suspension of civil rights, a ban on the left wing press, and the rounding up and arrest of communist and socialist leaders. Elections to the Reichstag were then held. The Nazis gained 288 votes. The German National Party gained 52 votes and combined this gave the Nazis a majority of support in the Reichstag which was really helpful.
On March 6th, Communist and Socialist Party headquarters were occupied by the state police as were trade union headquarters. Buildings, housing, and publishing companies associated with the left wing were also occupied. All states that were previously not loyal to the Nazis now had Nazi- Loyal state administration. On March 13th Joseph Goebbels set up the Reich Propaganda Ministry. The German Press received its first order from Joseph Goebbels. On March 20th, Himmler announced the establishment of a concentration camp at Dachau. Two days later the interior Ministry set up a racial hygiene
