Charania and Patel (2022) point out that nursing schools with inclusive teaching practices are training their students to become inclusive, future leaders that can effectively navigate health care systems to promote population-centered needs. This implies that nursing faculty, or ANEs, who do not use diverse and inclusive teaching methods will create less culturally-sensitive nursing students. This can impact the students’ ability to provide high-quality care and create less inclusive work environments. Teaching, Scholarship and Service I will incorporate teaching, scholarship and service as I transition into the role of an ANE through a variety of methods. Becoming an ANE involves teaching in the form of educating future students, peers and patients regarding ethical and evidence-based techniques. It is important for students to understand how to care for a patient and why one method may work more effectively than another. This includes considering patient preferences and beliefs while integrating proven methods of effective and safe care. Scholarship will be achieved by striving to display critical thinking and expertise in my practice thus far, despite newly transitioning into the ANE role. This will include using my creativity and problem-solving skills to consider new ways to teach and provide effective patient care, while retaining integrity and compassion. The act of transitioning into an ANE shows my dedication to service within the nursing profession, which I will continue after graduation by obtaining an ANE role to continue serving the students and the public. This will include working diligently to provide students with educational and memorable learning experiences to support their role as future healthcare
