My scouting journey began in the fall of 2010. I remember it vividly: it was a rainy, dark Tuesday night at around 6:45 PM. My dad drove me to Scenic Hill elementary school while I fell asleep reading my book by flashlight in the back seat. When he woke me up, I can remember thinking “What on earth am I doing at a school? I just got out of one of these a few hours ago.” Little did I know that that school was where I would make my first steps on the journey from little kid to young adult. Scouting has affected my life in so many ways that will allow me to accomplish my goals in life.
My short term goals in High School are to graduate with my cohort in 2018 with my Associates’ of Science degree and at least a 3.75 GPA. Currently, the classes I’m taking, specifically Chemistry, will be helpful for forming the basis of what I need to know as I plan to go into the field of Research and Development Chemistry. I also enjoy going to the school’s band functions and listening to the music, as well as supporting my friends in band. My dream family includes a wife, 2 kids, and two cats named Basil and Oregano. I plan to have my own children go into scouting, whether it be Cub/Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, and I hope to be there to guide and mentor them along their paths in scouting just as my parents have been there for me whenever I needed help along my journey. After aging out of my troop in about a year and a quarter, I plan to become one of the Assistant Scoutmasters so I can continue to help young scouts grow into amazing young men. The lessons I learned in scouting will be invaluable in my adult life. Not only will I have the outdoorsy skills that often come to mind when thinking of Boy Scouts, I’ll also have practical knowledge for everyday life that I’ve gained through merit badges such as Family Life, Personal Management and
