During the progressive era, progressive reforms were mixes of successes in the area of urban life. Reformers believed that urbanization was the root to many social problems, so they worked to fix them. Some of their reforms worked well, whereas others did not. They worked hard to improve conditions in the cities after seeing the poverty, filth, and crime that occurred mostly between 1890 to 1920. Progressives were mostly successful in reforming urban living conditions. The cities rapidly started to grow due to the increase of factory jobs in the cities.
