As with many organizations, HSNi’s human resources talent acquisition specialist when recruiting look for talent and skills in the persons selected to fill job assignments. HSN, Incorporated is a $3.5 billion interactive multichannel retailer with strong direct-to-consumer expertise among its two operating segments. HSNi offers innovative, differentiated retail experiences on TV, online, via mobile devices, in catalogs, and in brick and mortar stores (HSNi.com, 2018). Knowledge is critical in that it forms a solid foundation and must be applied before the benefits of it is realized; the value of this approach lies in its practical application and the potential for the learner to better understand how things are in an organization, therefore increasing individual ability to become more effective in efficient organizations (Nassar, 2007, p. 4.8). These required factors basically qualify myself and others for the position of Customer Care Sales Assist. For the organization as the employer getting the best talent means identifying people with exceptional skills and those who best qualities to fulfil the role and contribute to the organization’s success. The shift from an industrial economy to an information society and an office economy means that many jobs now place an emphasis on integrity, communication, and flexibility. Soft and technical skills, also known as hard skills, at one point in time, were the only skills needed for employment. In today’s workplace technical skills are not enough to keep individuals employed; communication, flexibility, interpersonal skills, ethical work behaviors are additional attributes needed (Robles, 2012, p. 455). Efficiency, effective communication and technical skills are needed in my position for successfully meet every job performance requirement. Customer care agents must have the capability, training and ability to properly complete business transactions, have product knowledge and show empathy when required. A mixture of other skills related to sales or customer care are also required. Other skills relate to the Internet, Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and Libre Office are used for submission of reports, spreadsheets and keeping track of team member progress.
