a. Identify the ethical issues associated with this scenario. To identify the ethical issues that are associated with the scenario would be first to identify what is ethical and what is unethical. The definition of “business ethics is the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially controversial issues, such as corporate governance, insider trading, bribery, discrimination, corporate social responsibility and fiduciary responsibilities,” (Business Ethics Definition | Investopedia).

The definition of unethical is, “is an action that falls outside of what is considered morally right or proper for a person, a profession or an industry. Individuals can behave unethically, as can businesses, professionals and politician,” …show more content…

It is my belief that a business that operates like the scenario will not be around very long if they do not conduct sound business practices. This scripture came to my mind while pondering the scenario that had been placed before us, “Do not steal. "'Do not lie. "'Do not deceive one another Leviticus 19:11 (NIV).”

b. What factors other than accounting are at play here? Other factors that are at play here would be the code of conduct, fraud, deception, and greed.

c. What are your alternatives? Being put in a compromising situation such as this scenario, I would first pray and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit as to how to approach my alternatives. Ethics for me is all about how to navigate by drawing a line and communicating with my boss/mentor that I will not make the journal entry to record $100,000 of revenue for the fictitious job and stick to my decision.
