. The general purpose of the annual IEP meeting is to review the progress of Tiffany, a third-grader at Warren Elementary School. The meeting was also requested by the parents as they are concerned about her academic progress. Tiffany is also expressing that she does not want to go to school any longer. They would like to discuss if Tiffany is ready to proceed to fourth grade. Tiffany is also struggling emotionally and is no longer wanting to attend school. As a result of the IEP meeting, it is clear that Tiffany needs to remain in the classroom instead of being pulled out to the resource room. To effectively implement that transition the special education teacher and the general education teacher need to meet face-to-face and discuss how to make the changes. Tiffany is no longer engaged in school, misses science and specials and does not want to attend school any longer. She is also still struggling in reading and math even though she is getting pull out for services in these areas. The two teachers would decide to use the consulting teaching method. They will need to discuss the best way to involve the parents. Since Tiffany’s parents are actively involved in her educational goals weekly communication would be the best route. The weekly communication should include the academic goals that are being taught, and how Tiffany is responding to the inclusion, as well as how her attitude towards school is progressing. The two teachers can communicate the progress of Tiffany at their sit-down meetings and agree who will be the one formally writing an email or making a phone call to the parents. The two teachers would then need to call and arrange a meeting with the parents to discuss if the plan to have weekly communication with be sufficient for all parties. Once the parents agree on a time to meet the two teachers will present the weekly communication plan. The parents should be asked if there is anything else that they would like to be included in a weekly email or phone can and which method they would prefer. Once the method and what will be included is agreed on, the parents and teacher shall being the
