I think that the image is a good reference for the quote. First and foremost, the image displays a female and a male racing to the finish line; however, the female is encountered with multiple of obstacles. The image displays equity which is often times misunderstood with equality. It is true as the image says it is the same distance however, the path is more difficult for the female. Furthermore, I choose this specific image for this quote because it demonstrates there is still people who view others as being less or inferior. What the quote and image mean to me is that often times the minority culture is forced to assimilate into the majority culture. I believe it is critical we embrace all cultures whether they are the majority or minority.
I think the image of the children is a good fit for the quote. I interpret from the quote that we should all be viewed as equal and we should take the time to see each of us as part of the community. We should be considerate towards others because we all go through different situations at home. The image I believe displays the diversity found in a particular classroom. I used this specific image to demonstrate that when teachers do not tend to the student's needs it can be hard for them to learn. If teachers are only teaching based on the book or teaching for standardized test then students are not actually learning. We should be aware of Gardner's multiple intelligence that each student learns differently. All in all, I think this quote is important because there is teachers who base their curriculum on standardized testing which is often times not the best solution. We need to focus on the student to better ensure the student is grasping the concept we as educators are
