02 December 2016 Equal Opportunity Affirmative action was introduced by President Kennedy in 1961, after decades it is still one of the most controversial issues in history. It was introduces because of discrimination against ethnic groups, particularly black American, and Latinos. They were denied the chance to be as successful as whites. Of course by being discriminated upon only made it harder for the other ethnic groups to get a better education, a better job and to be given equal opportunities, because of their backgrounds and race. In other States like the United Kingdom have certain series of future events or performances to promote awareness of discrimination, and instead of making previous victims of minorities they are currently aiming to give them preferential treatment. Minorities should be given the opportunity to attend the college of their choice; if they have earned the required grade average, than they should not be denied that opportunity for admission. Affirmative Action was struck down by voter in the state of California in 1996, because of legal reversal; reverse discrimination is allowing others that are not qualified to enter in to institutions, such as universities, hospitals and more. That type of discrimination will only have a negative impact and disfavor someone who was in a majority position. Opportunities for jobs should be given to the quailed candidate regardless of their race. Preferences based on race should have no place in choosing the right person for a job, Universities or in any business, because it will only cause harm, there is nothing good about being unfair and
