When I was taught about sea creatures in elementary school, my teacher taught that the shark was the scariest of them all, and I believed her then. Now that I've had the opportunity to research about sharks for myself, I've come to the conclusion that most people are afraid and uneducated about sharks.

The first time I saw sharks with a new perspective was during Shark Week 2014. My brother had it on the TV, and I decided to watch with him. Usually, we didn't get along, but Shark Week had caught my attention, so I didn't argue with him about what channel we should watch. I had watched some shark shows before, and it always showed sharks as violent and angry. I figured these shows would be similar to the other shows, but I was wrong.

Shark Week showed sharks differently than how typical suspense movies like to show sharks. It showed how sharks really act. Yes, sharks might be dangerous and sometimes aggressive, but they aren't human eating monsters. They showed them as gentle giants just looking for food to survive.
