Tenement life in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was very difficult, it could even be called somewhat dangerous. Tenements were usually very small living spaces that contained no more than 2 rooms. Most rooms had 2 or no windows at all, the buildings were also built very close together on narrow streets. Some tenements had little ventilation, there was no central heating or air conditioning so the tenements were very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter. Tenements were not the safest place for a person to live because living conditions were very poor.

President Lyndon Johnson announced in his January 1964 State of the Union address, “This administration today, here and now, declares unconditional war on poverty in America.” Within the 50 years since this announcement by then President Johnson, the amount spent on the attempt to alleviate poverty by taxpayers has been well over 22 trillion dollars. According to Robert Rector and Rachel Sheffield , this spending, which does not include Social Security or Medicare, is three times the cost of all U.S. military wars since the American Revolution. However, we continue to have poverty and we continue to see many people lack the necessary means to become self-sufficient thus heavily relying on social programs to bridge the gap between poverty
As the years went on, poster design changed with the changing times. Movie posters in the 1920s usually depicted scenes from the movie they were advertising, mainly the memorable scenes from the movie. In the 1930s, however, the movie posters had an increased emphasis on the characters, having the main protagonist or antagonist enlarged on the posters.
The organization proposed the development of an alternative temporary shelter that hosted an average of four hundred and thirty-nine individuals per night (Darwin 6). The shelter would later resume with costs being shared among several stakeholders. The shelter was placed under new management that targeted two hundred and fifty individuals in an enclosed environment. The shelter also helps in describing the seriousness of homelessness challenge in Arizona State.
You would n ever know by looking at me or talking to me that my family and I have been homeless before. For the kids that have been homeless before it doesn't make you any less worthy, or intelligent than anyone else. There are many things you can do not only to help yourself with the feelings of being embarrassed or ashamed but you can also help others like you, be apart of organizations, and volunteer your time to others that have been in our situation of being homeless so they can feel better and know it ’s okay.

For my creative project I chose to put together a movie poster. I got my idea based off of many movie posters that I seen and they caught my eye. I decided to do it based off of my book because my book has a very intriguing meaning behind it. With the book The Secrets We Keep, you can actually read between the lines with the book. This also reminds me of the book The Great Gatsby, because with every little word it’s always a meaning behind it.
This photograph was taken outside the old Odeon cinema in Bradford's city centre. I have put this here because it is a good example of what happens when you actually take something out that we would ordinarily consider to be and example of visual media. These spaces would originally have been for placing cinema posters advertising the latest films on offer at the cinema. But now this building is no longer used and it is over 15 years since it closed down. So, these spaces that used to have posters on them are now left blank.
Nowadays, it seems as though one can only imagine living in a Utopian society free of homelessness. Even though this concept may be idealistic and virtually unrealistic, all communities must crave and strive for this to some degree. It has become a societal goal to provide a sense of “home” for all, even those not so lucky to have a place of their own to call “home”. However, one cannot force another to receive help, as they can only promote the individual willingly doing so themselves, so it would be appropriate for communities to at the very least provide the materials to do so. One major way this can be done is through the distribution of “care packages”.
