In the feature article “All Guts, No Glory”, I agree with the author Molly M. Ginty, that women participating in combat. If I was in the military some of the things that might affect me would be probably because of my gender. First, women would not be put into battle because people think women cannot handle the work or bloodshed. They think women are better off bring a nurse for helping men in battle if they get injured. Second, they think women in combat would be a distraction.
The women of the early 20th century showed that they have the ability to be productive in the work place and fight for the greater good of the United States of America. In modern times women have started joining combat roles in the military and increasing in demographical size in the military. This has shown that women are striving to be more equal to men in all aspects of modern life. By showing they can fight in wars and hold their own against our nations enemies they can and will be seen as equals. The public celebration of women’s history in the United States began in 1978.
Women are more powerful than they are perceived to be. During World War I and more prominently known during World War II, women took the jobs that men left behind when they were called for the draft therefore taking on the role as men. Although women have been allowed into the military since the times of World War I, they were not allowed into combat units, until 2013. As women have earned the opportunity to be in combat units, the next step would be allowing them to be included in the military draft. Women should be included in the military draft because it would allow them to be more equal to men, they would be able to see themselves as strong and capable, and it would change the way men view women.
Women continue to disprove the stereotype that they are too “frail and delicate” to serve in the armed forces. Equality means equal rights and equal responsibilities, and if a woman can meet the same requirements mandatory for men to join the armed forces, she should be eligible for the draft. Even if the majority of citizens able to meet the requirements is still men, this would be fair as it gives all women the opportunity to attempt, and those who do meet the requirements will be able to serve their country in a time of
Women’s responsibilities increased especially at work and war. Women, even today are discriminated because of their gender, so there is still no equality between both genders which should stop. Many women worked in the work force. According to an article, “For the first time, women
They participate in combat and are on more equal stands than ever before. Many measures were taken over the past few decades to give women more opportunities that men already had. Some may think that women were needed at home and therefore should not have been able to fight in the war, but women and men could have switched positions at home. Some women could have gone to war while their husbands took care of the children and home tasks. The husbands could have worked in factories, just like women did in World War II.
I think that women should have options to join the army if they want too. Women can join the army and get the benefits like anyone else. Equal rights for G.I. Bill only certain races got to use the benefits that the G.I. Bill provided. Only one fifth of 100,000 blacks had got to actually use the benefits (“G.I. Bill”, 2018). The banks also refused to give loans to blacks, making G.I. Bill even less effective
Women have actively participated in war from nursing combatants and the manufacturing of munitions during both world wars and has only increased their involvement in the military, however this was not always the case. During WWI, when men had to fight for their country due to conscription, women were required to replace these men in their respective jobs. Although the government gave women a chance, this chance did not last long as men returned home from the war to regain their positions in their companies. When men lost their jobs, and found themselves without their identity, they floundered and wandered, not knowing what to do. Women remained at work even when men lost their jobs and had to attempt to make what little income they might have stretch to points that were unheard of.
Even though men are usually stronger than women, Women can have strength to serve in combat. But now other countries are allowing women in combat, Women are becoming stronger. Their just doing this so they can prove women are equal, and are as equal to men. Some countries do this so other countries join in with them. Women have the strength, and are as equal to men as men are to women.
Women in Combat: Taking The "Man" out of the Title Women in combat are becoming less unusual today. Having women on the frontline has always been and always will be frowned upon. Many people cannot entertain the idea of a woman doing a man’s job. Women and war have always been considered to have little in common; however, women possess many of the characteristics men do, if not more.
If there are lots of women in the soldier 2020, women would prove even more that they are more than a stay at home mom. Either way that soldier 2020 draft goes, women will have more options in the army, and they wouldn’t have anyone tell them about calling the soft. The army is not lowering its standards, but they
Women in the Military Many times throughout history, and in many cases today, women have been overlooked in many facets of opportunity, especially in the military. Women who have served, and are currently serving in the military, have shown how extremely important their key role is when it comes to military forces. Although it’s a huge step towards gender equality, many people disagree with women serving in the armed forces.
In the past, the idea of women serving in the military would've been seen as anything short of ridiculous. But in recent years women in America have broken new ground in stomping out stereotypes that only men are able to protect and defend our country. One of the biggest debates though has lingered on whether women are just as capable of serving in the military/combat positions as men. Though it would be hard to imagine with over 200,000 women today serving in active duty (source 2) not long ago the idea of them even being in uniform was heavily opposed due to what many believed that women in the military would “pose a potential threat to the good order and discipline. Views of women joining the military have drastically changed over the
Being a girl is hard, women have been the second best since the beginning of time, women weren’t allowed to do a man's job in the military and it’s time that further evolves into women and men doing all of the same jobs. Although, some may argue that keeping women protected from the harsh realities of war is the reasonable thing to do and those people have a valid argument when they say women aren’t emotionally stable enough to fight on the front lines, or that women aren’t strong enough to serve; this applies to some women not all. Women have proven themselves capable of so much more than the standard that is set for them in the military: overcoming their physical differences and putting the excuses to rest. The excuses about being a distraction to men and that women are going to be prioritized over fighting. The military makes us believe that everyone in the military is treated
Women have proven themselves as being competent and qualified for tasks and jobs in the military even under stressful or dangerous conditions. Men are allowed to choose combat and women should also be given this choice. Society will not suffer because not all women desire to fight in war-like conditions or deployments. Recently, there are numerous women who serve as Generals and Admirals. They consist of all components of the forces including serving in combat units and onboard ships.
