I decided to do my research paper on the topic of the Americans with Disabilities Act because the topic is something that I am passionate about and something that I realize how important this law is to the individuals with disabilities as well as their families. In this paper about the Americans with Disabilities Act, I will explain why this Act was put into law and its importance. I will also explain the genesis of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as major court cases and amendments. It is extremely difficult to pinpoint a specific movement to get that was responsible for getting the bill to the appropriate branches of government. The Americans with Disabilities Act only effects buisnesses/employers that employ 15 or more employees, and this Act forbids them from discriminating against individuals with a disability (as defined in the previous paragraph). In regards to employers, it is also required that employers make “reasonable accomodations” for the qualified disabled. This was included in the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that each employee was giving any reasonable tool that would help him or her be successful at the job that the individual was hired to perform. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, “reasonable accommodation may include, but is not limited
