Standard #2 Learning Differences Standard #2 Learning Differences means that students feel welcomed in a classroom due to the teacher’s understanding of individual differences and they are appreciated for students’ to meet high standards. Each student is diverse in a multitude of ways that include cultures and communities. This diversity in the classroom requires sensitivity and knowledge of how to address differences. It is important to ensure an inclusive learning environment in the classroom so all students can meet their fullest potential. I will embrace differences to improve my instruction as a teacher. The first artifact I have chosen to provide evidence for this standard is an adapted lesson plan. I had to develop a lesson plan that included strategies for individual students with particular learning differences and needs. This artifact a lines specifically with outcome 2(a) Performances: Instruction Addresses Diverse Learning because I designed, adapted, and delivered instruction to address each student’s diverse learning strengths and needs. The link between the artifact and the standard is that I developed multiple approaches to allow each learner to demonstrate their understandings. In addition, the second artifact I have chosen in alinement with this standard is the Culturally Responsive Teaching assignment that is a collection of five papers that recognize the importance of including students’ cultural references in all aspects of learning. The similarity between this artifact and the standard is that I understand that learners bring assets for learning based on their individual experiences, abilities, talents, culture, and funds of knowledge.
