Individual Learning Plan Sheila Morgan Walden University EDU-66100 Fall 2016-2017 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to evaluate my personal beliefs as an educator based upon the NBPTS core propositions and RWRCOEL Dispositions in Diversity, Technology and Professionalism. Provide examples of how I have demonstrated areas of high performance, and provide steps in which to work towards proficiency in areas I deem deficient or in need of improvement. As an educator the need for continuous self-reflection is essential to growing as a professional.
Student must be able to have a positive learning environment. School leaders have a duty to hire teachers that will support student learning and support instruction. Looking at the major functions of this standard and my personal experience as an educator, it proves that school leaders must create a learning environment that will assist in maintaining the school mission and goals. Educators must be able to foster and create a learning environment in which it is student oriented and one that will aid in the process success for all students. In conclusion, standard three supports and monitor and effective management plan.
The Common Core State Standards believes that it successfully prepares students’ academic careers to enter college and businesses with clear guidelines to decent test scores. However, with the lack of flexibility and creativity, there is always a limitation that students can learn from the scripted lessons. Although scripted lessons can ensure student’s academic achievements, students learn more from their experiences like projects that require creativity. Consequently, the educators must consider that an individual has different learning styles and different paces of learning. Thus, the teacher’s job is to discover individual’s strength and weaknesses and help them to walk through the right path and not only to stuff one’s head with knowledge
Incorporating the Texas essential knowledge and skills to the districts academic curriculum is a course of action that requires curriculum writers to carefully align the fundamental principles of the each subject area making it possible for teachers can map their curriculum and develop the lesson plans. In this session, teachers will be divided into groups by grade level and subject area. This will be a two-part session. First, teachers will be given copies of the Texas essential knowledge and skills and the state test. Each group will look at the testing objectives and make a three month calendar aligning the testing objectives, state standards, and curriculum to reflect the skills and concepts needed for the student success.
Task 16 U2 AC 2.2 - Explain why it is important to select teaching and learning approaches, resources and assessment methods to meet individual learner needs. There are a number of theories that have evolved over many years that state the current schooling methods do not work… The current methods of teaching are institutionalised and promote one method of teaching for everyone… It is the opinion of many scholars, teachers, professors and applicators of the teaching system that a change is a long time overdue and now is the time to allow learners to learn instead of expecting them to learn from one method. A favourite quote of mine is: “If you can’t learn the way I teach, then I will teach the way you learn”, and this very much sums up the way
When working with students, there is a variety of setting that must take place to create accommodations for students. According to the Preliminary Credential Competency Checklist Instructional Implementation Competencies 4.2 states, the importance of delivering instruction in a variety of setting to help students meet their IEP (p.5). The accommodations in setting to whole group, small group, or one-on-one to give students the needed support to meet their IEP based on the stated accommodations. To create adjustments for students in different setting allows them to focus their attention on the given task by having an adult working with them. The adjustment in group instruction also helps students who have difficulty staying on task and need to be placed in a small group.
The Common Core does not take into account the innate needs of students in general, the aims of education, or the needs of a particular community. Many educators feel that the days when, “curriculum developers state the aims of education and their philosophical and psychological principles” (Olivia, 2013) are long gone. Ignoring the specific needs of students and a community can be deemed a fatal flaw of the Common Core
Cole stated that “All students are different so there will be several different perspectives. Therefore, it is important to teach in a way that is diverse.” When planning and delivering instructions to his students he is able to more easily meet their needs by evaluating all the ways that they may interpret the criteria. He can then create a proper learning environment in which he is able to discuss the varieties of learning styles, interests, and abilities which are found within his classroom. Mr. Cole also makes himself available during his free time to all students as well.
Furthermore, teachers need to consider adapting and modifying the curriculum using AT to supply student participation, in catering for diverse student intellectual abilities. There are considerations for teachers when selecting AT to support student
The first artifact I have chosen to provide evidence for this standard is an adapted lesson plan. I had to develop a lesson plan that included strategies for individual students with particular learning differences and needs. This artifact a lines specifically with outcome 2(a) Performances: Instruction Addresses Diverse Learning because I designed, adapted, and delivered instruction to address each student’s diverse learning strengths and needs. The link between the artifact and the standard is that I developed multiple approaches to allow each learner to demonstrate their understandings.
This is difficult for a teacher to plan three to four lesson plans that meet grade level standards, differentiation for all students, meet special education needs, address students gaps in knowledge and skills. Leadership team discussed creating lessons and units of study that will address all grade level standards so teachers can focus on creating in depth activities to make a curriculum relevant and interesting to the students. • Team discussed the issue that students assessments are not relevant or don’t assess students’ growth. Leadership team felt that, with new curriculum a new curriculum based assessments needs to be implemented. Assessments need to measure student academic growth and content standard mastery, and to demonstrate if project-base learning is an appropriate educational tool for alternative education students.
Introduction Conducting educational standards is very imperative when dispensing an effective learning environment for students. Educational standards are normally defined as principles and skills students should retain throughout their educational career as students. These values that students obtain are served as a basis of educational reform across the state, common core values, and nation as educators and stakeholders rejoin the call for a clear definition of desired outcomes of schooling. Educational standards also exemplifies a way to measure student success in terms of these outcomes" (National Research Council 2001). National, state and local (common core) educators plays a significant role in improving students’ learning environment
By raising the bar, educators can inspire students to reach their full potential and push beyond their comfort zones. With challenging standards, students are more likely to engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative expression, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter. As an educator, I believe that challenging students academically is crucial in preparing them for real-world challenges and enabling them to become lifelong learners. Tougher standards encourage educators to innovate their instructional approaches, ensuring that students are adequately equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an ever-evolving

A student should be guided by their teacher in their own path of study, teachers should be involved with every student that they have, students learn best from experience and many topics other than basic skills like math, reading, science and english should be taught in classrooms. A student should be prepared for future experiences and so the true
