Ian Cole Interview

Thursday, September 14th during class my fellow classmates and I had the honor of interviewing a new teacher whose name was Mr. Ian Cole. Throughout the interview I was able to learn through a teacher's perspective, what teaching is and all the different aspects of it as well. Since Mr. Cole believes that all children are able to learn no matter their differences, he decided the test aching profession would be right for him. Changing the lives of students and showing them what it feels like to have a teacher who cares is something Mr. Cole wants to pursue. One of Mr. Coles beliefs is that each child is their own unique individual that needs a secure and caring atmosphere so that they can grow and mature into young adults. Cole if he felt that his college education courses prepared him for his classroom activities and he responded “Yes”, I was very relieved. The main part that prepared him was the amount of kids that were found in his class. The class size was about 20 students. This allowed him to build relationships with his professors, making it easier to ask any questions that came to mind or clarify any confusion. The student/teaching experience allowed Mr. Cole to experience first-hand what a real classroom environment is like. This helped him visualize how he would potentially be teaching students of various backgrounds. Also, the program was able to give him an idea of what a teacher is responsible for outside of the classroom as well, such as lesson plans and grading papers. Cole stated that “All students are different so there will be several different perspectives. Therefore, it is important to teach in a way that is diverse.” When planning and delivering instructions to his students he is able to more easily meet their needs by evaluating all the ways that they may interpret the criteria. He can then create a proper learning environment in which he is able to discuss the varieties of learning styles, interests, and abilities which are found within his classroom. Mr. Cole also makes himself available during his free time to all students as well. He also uses devices and impractical techniques to help assist the students. Mr. Cole will record himself while teaching the lessons to the students incase students may need to hear the lesson again. I learned that not everyone is going to comprehend everything the same way. So, there will be times where you must go over material, modify assignments and allow there to be other options available for
